Ferrari Taxi caught by the D.R.I.

Found a bright red ferrari with KA-03 number plate in showroom condition stashed in the basement of Income Tax office building in Queens Road Bangalore last week, guarded by two goons in civil dress. Is this the same car which was discussed earlier in this forum as registered as Taxi in Trivandrum. The car was registered under some scheme to save import tax, it seems. the car was said to be confiscated by DRI and deposited in Income Tax office for safe custody..

DRI i think can seize vehicles if they find a certain indivual's income to be disproportionate, and feel that the person has paid up for the vehicle in cash.
DRI stands for direct revenue income right?

the only thing that i cant quite reason out is what kind of ppl go and buy ferraris if the only major thing they are concerned about is saving some of their hard'ly' earned money... guys if u actually wanna save on a ferrari, dont even bother buying it... Sometime back lots of such cars were seized from big film stars... again i say, if u want a hummer or something, and show off, hey atleast have the heart to spend on it...

well guys this car was probably caught becoz it was wrongly registered as a taxi. see, a car has to have 4 doors to be registered as a taxi. the rto will accept a suv or even a maruti van but a two door is no way gonna be registered as a taxi. maybe the guy has managed the rto guys or something else. i think this car must have been got under the epcg scheme in which it is now mandatory to register cars imported under this scheme as taxis only.
the point of saving money... yes you do save a lot of money if your cars a cab viz:
1) you pay a piddly some of money as yearly tax..think it is 2800 or so per year for an imported car...so theres no one time tax..imagine how much he saved only i the registeration of the ferrari
2) you get 40% depreciation..
3) YOU GUYS ACTUALLY WANT MORE AR'NT THESE TWO POINTS ENOUGH????!!
