My friend's brother had one of these in a dark blue color. He managed to crash it into a tree within a week of taking delivery! The whole engine bay was smashed and the insurance company condemned the car.

Not everyone can. Its called the EPCG scheme and they are pretty strict about the guidelines.

ya that scheme i forgot the name. bingo. pretty safe most of these hotels have camry like that only 50% off

This must be that EPCG scheme wherein you need to earn a particular amt foreign curreny proportional to the car price in a particular time period...under this scheme u r major chunk of the cars duty is slashed off....infact u can even buy a X5 for as cheap as 40-45 L's ...wherin u would hav pd 60-65 L's with all the formality n stuff...

If you are a hotel owner you are entitled to import a car under the EPCG scheme for use of the hotel for transporting your guests or to rent the car out for tourists. In this case you are supposed to pay only 5% import duty. The condition that goes along with this scheme is that the hotel which is importing the car has to earn 8 times the amount in foreign exchange from its guests that it saved on duty in a period of 5 yrs.
For example a car costing 30 lakhs would normally entail a duty of 31.5L at the regular import duty rate of 105% but in the EPCG scheme the hotelier would only have to pay 1.5L which is at 5%. Thus saving 30L.
Now he has to show an earning of 2.4Cr in Foreign Exchange from the same hotel. This is 8 times the amount of 30L that he saved in duty. This has to be done in a period of 5 yrs. And the other part of this is if he does not show the requisite amt of 2.4Cr in 5 yrs he has to pay a certain fine on the amount that he has fallen short on.
My frind imported 2 BMWs 735Li(previous generation) under this scheme and each cost him only 22L. This was also because BMW was offering 40% discounts on the same car as they were phasing it out at that time.

Another lesser known fact is that the EPCG scheme also saves you money on locally manufactured cars. With an EPCG licence, the excise of 24% is waived off.

Seen this in Juhu. Was in awesome condition. But its just a 325ci. It has M wheels though.

Well maintained 325. Nice pic,gordon.

Those aren't M wheels but are BMW Individual wheels.

The wheels carry the M logo.
What does 'BMW Individual' wheels mean? Does it mean wheels provided by BMW itself?!

BMW Individual is a customisation process for BMW's. Its complete factory stock but you have an infinite number of choices for interior colour, exterior colour, interior options like tv screens in the rear so you don't have to go to an outside vendor to fit them. You can choose colours from cars from previous times.

I'm not completely sure but those wheels look like BMW Individual. Maybe they were an option from ///M for the regular 3-Series.

Those are standard 18 inch alloys found on all CIs.

What a beauty that silver one is! I still think the E46s look nicer than the E90s!
