Under the hood, the Ferrari Roma gets the same 3.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 award-winning engine that we see in a range of vehicles from Ferrari. While the engine is capable of producing a lot more, Ferrari have given the Roma 620hp and 760Nm of torque. The Roma’s engine is also mated to the new 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox that debuted originally on the SF90 Stradale. The Roma does 0-100kph in 3.4sec and goes on to a top speed of 320kph

Re: Ferrari Roma priced at Rs 3.61 crores in India

As breathtakingly beautiful as this car is, I miss the time when Ferraris were unique in their styling. These days, only the wheels remind us of their unique designs. This Ferrari to me, is too much like an Aston Martin. Not necessarily a bad thing to the eye. But if I wanted a car that looked like that, I'd just bond up and get me an Aston.

The 2020 Vantage

The one below is a Vantage facelift by Revenant.

While I agree that the Roma looks a lot like the Vantage and lesser like what a Ferrari should, I don't think the looks alone are a deciding factor as to what car to buy. The Roma runs far superior mechanicals as against the Vantage's Mercedes-AMG derived motor. From what I collect watching the reviews, the Vantage's driving dynamics seem to be a wee bit confused, it is too hard to be called a GT and too soft for a supersportscar, whereas the Roma is a GT through and through with a Race mode for those times when you want the extra punch. All that said, there is a fair price gap between the Vantage and the Roma and I don't think both cars target the same demographic.
And then, there is the super tasty Vantage AMR

Supposedly the Roma is a by-product of the Maserati Alfieri concept car. A thoroughbred GT for the road is what this is. Oh how I wish Ferrari sold it with the option of a gated manual shift

I completely agree with you. But I'm talking about if I wanted a car that looked like that. I'm treating this more as an objet d'art than a vehicle.

Like Jeremy Clarkson says, they can target who they want, but the truth is majority of the buyers that can afford these vehicles will be businessmen in their 50s so why not follow the heart a lot more than driving dynamics There's someone in my family who paid an exorbitant amount for a classic Ferrari because it looked like what it should. Those were his exact words. But then again, that was in Dubai, and normal rules of life don't exactly apply there.

Remember the 812 Superfast? that still looked like a Ferrari while doing most of the things a great GT car should.

P.S The Vantage AMR with that 7 speed manual. Man.

Re: Ferrari Roma priced at Rs 3.61 crores in India

I personally love the Roma for what it is. A proper, thorough-bred GT. And to believe that we'll be seeing that B.R Green one on the road soon makes it even sweeter. Yes, Ferrari might've been a touch too close to Aston Martin for this one but it still looks so damn good. It's a completely new and different kind of Ferrari, one that will soon replace the Portofino and if it was up to me, I'd definitely go for this over the Portofino.

Re: Ferrari Roma priced at Rs 3.61 crores in India

I for one think this car is more of a reincarnation of the Maserati GranTurismo than a copy of Aston Martin.

I personally dislike Ferrari's design in recent years. The last good-looking one until the Roma was the 599.

With this, Ferrari has really brought an elegant vehicle in their line-up - something they lacked.

Kudos to them!

Re: Ferrari Roma priced at Rs 3.61 crores in India

The car looks so ravishing.

But ever since it’s launched and when I first saw the performance figures, I couldn’t help but compare it with the recently launched BMW M5 Competition which is faster in 0-100, is way more practical, it’s quite sporty, isn’t an attention grabber (it that’s a +ve) & most importantly costs less than half.

How do other Bhpians compare these 2 cars?
