Amazing to find one in India. I think this was the first one I saw on internet which had a tilting body and would drive like a 2-wheeler on twisting roads.
This is really a unique vehicle.

There are a few of these Mazda 3s in the city. I've seen 3 myself, the blue one in the first picture, the dark blue one parked at the Lansdowne garage, and the white one (which is probably used as a daily).
Here are some photos of the car I've taken just over the past one year:

Re: The Rare Cars of India - Imports you didn't know existed here

Those are definitely some of the rarest cars spotted in India.
Did not expect a Renault Twizy or a Smart Roadster on Indian roads.

Re: The Rare Cars of India - Imports you didn't know existed here

Wow, Awesome Thread. Was surprised to see cars like the Citroen DS, Escort RS Cosworth, Civic EG6, DC5 Integra Type R, Focus RS, S2000, Datsuns, Smart Roadster and Morgan Aero in this list. These are not the cars that anyone having the money would buy. It requires some serious petrolhead inside to appreciate these beauties.

Would love to see a few Miatas/MX5s and Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ in this list.

My favourites from the list(in no particular order) are.

1. Mazda RX7 FD
2. Honda Civic EG6
3. Mazda RX8
4. Dodge Challenger R/T
5. Ford Focus RS
6. BMW E21 3 Series
7. Honda S2000
8. Alfa Romeo 4C
9. Subaru Impreza WRX STi
10. Ford F150 Black Oops
11. Morgan Aero

Thanks for sharing. Great to see so many rare cars in India. Really appreciate the efforts in compiling this.

The stance of Mazda RX8 bears a small resemblance to the stance of Mercedes SLS, maybe because of the angle from which the photo was taken. One look at this Mazda reminded me of SLS.

Re: The Rare Cars of India - Imports you didn't know existed here

Spotted this Mazda BT-50 pickup today. It looked pretty bland, to be honest. When I saw it in my ORVM, I was like 'wait a minute, why does this look weird'?
I presume it is a private import. Vaahan data says it was registered in 2015.

Re: The Rare Cars of India - Imports you didn't know existed here

Spotted this Land Rover Defender yesterday at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. It had this Red Bull livery on it and had yellow plates on. It looked 'HUGE' as I drove past it. The presence was humungous. Dont know if it is a common sighting in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

Re: The Rare Cars of India - Imports you didn't know existed here

There used to be extremely rare Maserati Bi-turbo in the 90s back here in Mumbai, Red-soft top-Tan interior, owned by a publishing house lady, a couple of Isuzus Piazzas as well, recollect a white one and a red. Would anyone have images of these?

This Certainly isnt a rare car, if it was a V10 then may be.
These are all over the place across India.
Alfa Romeo 159 deserves to be in this thread, there are only two of them in india in Blue, one is a Q4 3.2 JTS and the other is 2.2 JTS.

Re: The Rare Cars of India - Imports you didn't know existed here

Lets not miss out on the black Lancia Ypsilon which was here in Mumbai originally as a Consulate car, then registered here, thereafter was up for grabs at about 9/10 lacs by a dealer in Mumbai, I recollect seeing a picture of it posted on T-bhp as well.

Any chance of its sibling, the Brera existing in India?
That is one delicious, lust machine.

I don't think so; Brera/939 Spyder as such are fairly rare cars globally.
Doubt that any exist here.

As of last year it was still unregistered and was on C/D plates.
