Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to launch the AMG GT 63 S E-Performance in India on April 11, 2023.



The AMG GT 63 S E Performance is the flagship plug-in hybrid version of the AMG GT 4-door. It is also the most powerful production car built by AMG.

Powering the AMG GT 63 S E-Performance is a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine paired with an electric motor. The combined output is 831 BHP and 1,400 Nm.



The car is equipped with a 6.1 kWh battery, which enables it to run in pure-EV mode for 12 km at up to 130 km/h. Mercedes also claims that the AMG GT 63 S E-Performance can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 316 km/h.

On the outside, the AMG GT 63 S E Performance looks similar to the standard version, except for a few details. The car gets different alloy wheels, a new exhaust, redesigned bumpers along with a charging port on the rear bumper.

The proportions and esp. rear end looks like a hybrid design mix of Panamera and Ioniq 6.

3.5 cr for this is ridiculous. Having said that, this is the ultimate Swiss army knife of cars - shames an M5 in every way, and a Panamera won't see where it went.

Frankly, the hybrid is wasted, it adds weight, only boosts the acceleration. I would prefer to ditch the battery and go for lightness.

I don’t dispute it’s capability but it looks awkward though

For an almost 2.4Ton vehicle, do you think that 89kg battery and few 10s of kg of motor and power electronics will make a difference in dynamics? I don't think so. Also without the electric boost, it is impossible to propel this 2.4Ton blob to 100kmph under 3s.

Anyway these models are sold in very small numbers and make some good money for MB. So why not milk those rich customers and also have fun engineering different powertrains

Not too tough to bump the power on these motors up to 700+ hp reliably. Stock 63S does 3.0 flat, little more power will ensure the 2.x time they're chasing. This has more to do with fleet emissions and hybrid tech display - they're only 11 years behind Porsche on this, with the Panamera being the only real competitor.

I very much doubt they make money on this model, though.
