TechArt delivers India's first 992 GTstreet R

Specialist Porsche tuner TechArt has delivered its first 992 GTstreet R in India.

TechArt's latest GTstreet R is based on the 992-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S. It is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-6 with modified turbochargers and a remapped ECU. The result is 789 BHP and 950 Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed PDK and an all-wheel drive system.

TechArt claims the 992 GTstreet R can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and has a top speed in excess of 350 km/h.

The first of the latest-gen GTstreet Rs to be delivered in India is finished in a shade of green called Python Green. The car is fitted with a custom body kit made from forged carbon. It also gets a forged carbon bonnet, louvres on the front fenders and unique wheels.

Besides the sporty body kit and performance upgrades, TechArt has also made changes to the chassis. The GTstreet R features wider front and rear tracks and a new sports suspension with variable ride height. Other modifications include an active rear spoiler, a custom exhaust and sports steering.

Re: TechArt delivers India's first 992 GTstreet R

Just wondering about the challenges in logistics in getting such mods from overseas. Getting it shipped to the UK and then paying customs again or carnet? or Porsche did an exception (highly doubtful) to deliver the car directly to UK instead of India and then the car was Imported as a private import?

or did someone simply buy from a UK dealer and exported it to India?

Re: TechArt delivers India's first 992 GTstreet R

What would be the name of the vehicle in the RC? As far as I know, performance upgrades are not legal in India. Would it be TechArt 992 GTstreet R or Porsche 911 Turbo S? I have the same doubt for all Brabus tuned Mercs in India.

TechArt has an official presence in India. The donor 911 turbo S was bought locally and the kit was imported from Germany and slapped on in India.

From the looks of it, the second and third pic are from Bombay. The second you can be absolutely sure of as that's Horniman Circle.

Re: TechArt delivers India's first 992 GTstreet R

This car is a physical manifestation of the word angry. I believe the way auto drivers get out the way when they see a Fortuner fill up their rear view mirrors, the owner of this mean green Porsche will have the added benefit of its flat six engine and custom exhaust trumpet it’s imminent arrival way before the auto driver sees it in his/her mirror. Peace

Re: TechArt delivers India's first 992 GTstreet R

Man I love the idea behind these kits and pushing even more power from an already ridiculously fast car, but this is SO UGLY. First off, the bright colour, then the random yellow stripe (the only bit of yellow on the car) and further the unnecessary forged carbon. TechArt have made some really good kits in the past but this one is way over the top. Whatever happened to good old classy kits that actually add to the aesthetics of a car?

Thank the lord this is No.88/88 and no more will find their way to India. Bengaluru can enjoy seeing this monstrosity driving around!

Re: TechArt delivers India's first 992 GTstreet R

The first Techart GTstreet R was a blue one (previous gen done by Racetech) in the Bren garage and this becomes the 2nd one.

Unless someone imports a fully built car, the RC will read the donor car only since the chassis number, engine number etc on the car are of the donor car. One can import a fully built GT Street R too, but that costs significantly more than buying a turbo S locally and then importing the kit. Same goes for other tuners too, RC depends on what the car landed as.

Correct, but Bren's car is a Type 991 911, the car pictured above is a Type 992. Both are GT Street Rs but different generations.

Thanks for taking the time to answer! I have another question. If someone buys a Brabus 600 in Germany or imports it to India after having the donor car (Maybach S580)modified, how would it be registered?

From my limited knowledge, when you buy a fully built car from Brabus, they procure the donor themselves from Merc and then modify it, so when imported, it will come through as a Brabus and not a Maybach. I am not entirely sure but many of these tuners have an agreement with manufacturers wherein a certain series of VINs are reserved for the tuners. I know Ruf does that with Porsche, not entirely sure how the rest go about it.
