I’ve always been into cars, and I always fantasised that I would be that guy who could open the hood and… I spent a lot of time on Reddit, on Team BHP, and I dove into the thing.

He also said:

A complaint I have heard from many Supercar owners. Most of them become garage queens after the initial obsession is over, come out barely once in a week / fortnight / month and become Point A -> Point A cars. Owners (sometimes, chauffeurs) just take the car out for a round and park it back. It's also why the Urus is the best selling Lamborghini in India. It's why the Cayenne is the best-selling Porsche in India. It's the reason behind the popularity of Fast SUVs (AMGs & the like).

Cars are fun if they can be driven to their limits. A humble car will be more fun at low speeds than a super car.

I thought ex-PM of Pakisthan is being referred. Was mildly dissapointed to see the Actor Imran Khan, not because of him but because of the fact that any Indian who is fairly interested in cars is most probably lurking in the team-bhp reading threads. Not surprised at all.

Many of us DIYers would relate to this what Imran said. When you work on your car, be it just a menial job of just changing the festoon bulb in the interior, the satisfaction you get out of it and the bond you create with the car gets deeper.

For example, I service my car myself. The feeling of putting new oils and filters creates a sense of joy, satisfaction and a feeling of doing something that has improved your car.

I recently also retrofitted IPH projectors into my headlights as they had gotten old. The whole process took 2-3 days of my complete time, the finishing was shabby but completely dust proof. But the joy of the road lightened up ahead was out of bounds. Couldn't have bought this feeling even if I got the GTI headlights.

Exactly my thoughts before I jumped into the thread and I too was disappointed to realise that it was our Imran Khan. Right like you said it shouldn't be a big surprise for any Indian (renowned or lesser know like us) to follow TBHP.

After this news I checked his Instagram. He vanished from public eye for quite a while and is now back - looks better than ever, happy and healthy, talks and writes well too unlike many btown celebs. I was pleasantly surprised and felt happy for him. Members here should read some of his recent posts there, they are good.

My take on this thread may seem very controversial. Our forum does not need the hype of actors, media stars of paparazzi. We have set a bar which is really high and dont need these folks to add on. They are welcome to join us, have meaningful discussions sans the hype they carry.
I am sure all the auto manufacturers have silent lurkers in our forum !!!

It's good to see someone who in past have experienced star fandom, to embrace much more practical life. Many youths in my college consider themselves car enthusiasts and they just talk about Ferrari, Lambo, V8, horsepower etc. Not that it is bad, but a pure car enthusiast is someone who has their passionate love towards machine and the experience of driving it, not just about bragging nought to 60 times (that a salesman can do also).

Also, I would be delighted to know his Team-BHP user account (Relax here people are very generous and would not spam him).

I totally agree with this. I really have no time to waste on actors, cricketers, politicians etc. Most have super inflated egos, there are a few exceptions. If there was someone like a Mandela I would sit up & pay attention. Unfortunately the wrong type of people get too much attention. Just like the biggest crooks get the most security. Nothing against Imran Khan personally I don't know too much about him.
