@ Sandeep: There are people who can assist you in importing the vehicles. Just Google them.

And yes, just for the information- the 11+ Seater Toyota Hiace would cost approx. INR 44 Lac onwards, excluding the registration and Insurance Charges. Hence, I would not call it as Just another People carrier.

All cheers

Saw the commuter in Bangalore yesterday.
Sorry for the poor quality image due to low light.
The rear had a "COMMUTER" badge.

44 Lakhs!!!!
But it's price is only about 9-14 lakhs range, even if 103% duty it should be around 20-30 lakhs.
Then what about the only 10% import duty for 13+ seaters???

The photos make me drool.
In Riyadh saw lots of Toyota Hiaces,Nissan Urvans and Hyundai H-1s.
Absolute delicious vans but sad that those won't make it to India considering the manufacturers want to keep the 'car only' premium badge.

A very grim looking van with too much of chrome. The interiors looked fabulous in one of the above posts. Wonder if they were modified.
I like those sliding rear doors. Given the space crunch for parking in India, Toyota should provide such doors in their Innova. Their minivan, Toyota Sienna in the US also had the same. The top end variant of the Sienna comes with automatic door sliding and locking features activated from the drivers side and even the remote key. Now THAT is cool.

Had seen this Toyota van in Singapore and Malaysia which is used by most of the tour operators as 14 seater, but not sure about the name of the model.

Re: The Godfather of all People Carriers - Toyota Hiace (tourister??)

Sorry for picking up a old thread, but found it better to continue in this than to open a new thread.
Well couple of days back i saw a Toyota commuter near Hyatt hotel New Delhi, it belonged to some Gurudwara from Punjab. Absolutely stunning, i know Toyota Haice have been there for long for tour operators, but this was different. Is it launched in India?
it was making its way like a clean sweep, totally amazing.
Please provide more Information, Google search straight away indicates import.
Please if it is launched, than how much is the damages to own such a beauty.

Re: The Godfather of all People Carriers - Toyota Hiace (tourister??)

This is a Toyota HiAce hands down, not a Tourister, Commuter or whatever.

I must say these are probably the best looking vans you could find on the planet, albeit boxy, but the design is still good!

Re: The Godfather of all People Carriers - Toyota Hiace (tourister??)

Today's The Hindu Business Line newspaper had an article that claims the Hiace would be launched in August this year.
Another source AutocarIndia, predicts a launch this year.
