@Manish and unknownsatan: Nice pictures. The S600 would have been a sleeper in silver or black. The Chinkara is quite rare.
@Ayan!: It apparently isn't a hoot to drive. The engine is very low on power and the steering lacks feedback. According to an Autocar review, it was a very bland car.

KOrg & Ayan this is not a chinakara it is a genuine Lotus replica I recall brought into india in early 90's and the laxmi mill guy who passed away built them and I suppose for mallya or mallya bought it later there was a red one to. These were imported as kits and assembled in India. They are pretty neat but not sure how road legal no matter what anyone says

My bad canonball, just now identified that the chinkara has a very different tail lamp assembly. Instead of the three tail lamps on either side as seen on this car, the chinkara has got only 2.
Moreover the chinkara looks very different from this car.
Can you please let us know what the base car is?

This cars were complete kits with tubular chassis which cam with kit or may have been made here they are easy to fabricate with the instructions - people made 3 similar (3rd in the works not sure she got completed) ones here in Mumbai at my friends workshop without importing a single part - those were very authentic. I was tempted get a fourth one made but RTO became the spoil sport = they would not accept 118NE RC book :(

This yellow car and the red had some type of ford engines I recall one of them had a ford 4 banger and the other 6/8 cylinder don't recall exactly those were imported as well. This car is one of the nicest built lotus replica's in India

Exclusivity is more than enough a reason bro, AFAIK, they are planning to sell only a 100 GT's in the country. Right ?

Nice find unknownsatan. It looks huge from the rear.
I feel that the wheels look to small for the car.. or is it just me?

Thats a genuine Lotus 7 replica kit car. S Karivardhan (of Lakshmi Mills) had plans of selling them in limited numbers. They were named Kari 65. They built two a red and this yellow. At one point I think VM owned both.

The ghastly 5GT makes me feel sick. I mean it looks like a huge slab was thrown on an X6 and "Voila"!
