340 KPH Hayabusa up to which year?

The current Hayabusa has its speedo calibrated upto 280 kph max whereas the older ones had upto 340. Upto which year 'busas came with 340 speedo? Can anyone please suggest? Please do not direct me to a website. Tried in vain for hours but it's like looking for a needle in the haystack. There are hundreds of sites which had all the info about 'busas but there is not a single simple English sentence which said 340 kph 'busas came up to ----- year. So much for information glut!

Re: 340 KPH Hayabusa up to which year?

To make it simple the busas manufactured 99-00 had the 340 KMPH. Amidst threats of Euro Safety backlash, all major Bike Manufacturers have a self imposed ban of producing/manufacturing bikes which were limited to 299 KMPH.

Re: 340 KPH Hayabusa up to which year?

To add further to this blog, Ninja ZX-12R, actually clocked 200 MPH in its pre-production avatar, it was the first victim or should i say it as first bike to follow the self imposed ban norms. Else we would have seen Ninja ZX 12R being the fastest produced street legal bike. The 99-00 spec Busa with a turbo aftermarket kit would produce 400+ BHP at the wheel.
There was one example owned by my friend in Bangalore. (Would not want to step on his privacy and announce his name in public forums)

400 Hp 'busa? Must be having chain-snapping and tyre-shredding torque, too. You need your own private airstrip to zip by. Oh, and a tailchute to brake.

Are you speaking about speedo meter read outs? If yes, the 'busas in the '02 '03 era.
S6 might be of help here

Posting a link of the 'Busa doing good speeds on the 340kmph speedo. Links to other face-lifted versions are provided therein.
