Re: Kawasaki Z800 unveiled, heading to India and now Launched. Edit - New color scheme for 2016

That's an ugly looking Z. And that doesn't look anywhere like red. With the kind of looks the Z has - it will look good in a 2-tone color only. The black/green ... A dark grey/blue or a grey/black would also look good. Maroon would only look good on a cruiser bike or a retro classic naked motorcycle.

Honesty did not like that colour on the Z.

It was much much better with the original colour sets.
What they can do is add a bit of grey/silver.
Something similar to the elder cousin, the Z1000.

But, the above images rather look like a Photoshop job to me.

Its nice to see Kawasaki bringing in more colors. But at-least to me the black/green combo looks really good, of course its subjective.

I don't know if the black/orange combo is an official color variant available internationally but if it is, I do wish they bring it here too. This new pink/black just doesn't cut it and needs to be reworked.

I did see a Red Z800 in Bangalore today, but it was a much deeper red than the shade shown above. Unless it was a custom job

I personally feel it lacked the appeal of the current colour options

The images supplied by the dealer seem accurate ... please have a look at :

https://www.kawasaki-cp.khi.co.jp/mc...gallery_e.html

The colour combination is Metallic Spark Black / Candy Crimson Red.

It may be that this colour combination doesn't photograph too well, which implies one must view the colour on the bike before passing judgment. But yes, the images don't impress.

Cheers,

But that is not the only color. They still have the all black with green highlights which I have just taken delivery of.

The Kawasaki website is down. Is there any site where people can review the specs. A company as big as Kawasaki not have an Indian website which seems to be in build stage for ever is surprising.

My Favorite pick in the current indian market. Not long before it was Fz1 but they have pushed the price beyond insanity.

CBR650 is great, the triples are good but VFM and pleasure moves to Kawasaki Z800

Re: Kawasaki Z800 unveiled, heading to India and now Launched. Edit - New color scheme for 2016

Kawasaki is allegedly replacing the Z800 with this upcoming Z900, images of which were shown at Intermot and will be unveiled at EICMA next month.

Quote:
The Z900 is powered by a new 948cc inline-four cylinder engine based on the Z1000 engine, making 126bhp. Kawasaki has developed an assist and slipper clutch to make action at the lever lighter and assist with excessive engine braking.
The engine is housed in an all-new lightweight steel trellis frame which helps keep weight down to 210kg. The low weight is paired with a low seat height of just 794mm, making the new Zed a good proposition for shorter riders.

I have a gut feeling that the Z900 will replace both the Z800 and the Z1000. It already makes close to 126bhp which is bang in between the 800 and the 1000. It looks pretty much like a love child of the two as well.

While the designers may have conceptualized it to be a fusion the 800 and the 1000, honestly, I am not a fan of this new hybrid as it doesn't look as sharp or aggressive as either of them. The uprated power output is welcome but they could've also added some extra bits from the Z1000 like the radial calipers.

I agree. I think it has to do with the reduced bodywork, which could be an outcome of the weight reduction. 23kg was dropped from somewhere! The sinister look is somewhat diluted

I am eagerly waiting for the pricing. The Z800 was a winner because of the fabulous package at that price, but if this bike replaces the Z1000, it could move a notch up!

Z900 seems to be more welcoming for me from what I see in this picture and the power figures mentioned above. The seating posture looks more upright than Z800 & 1000. I personally liked the seating ergonomics here (of course front looks could have been little better), because on Z800 i am slightly disappointed with forward leaning posture. This can help riders who do street riding and Touring (ofcourse with aftermarket windscreen). And based on the sales figures, pricing & fan following of Z800 I don't think it would be replaced by Z900 so early.
