Honda Powersports - 6 new bikes

Honda has announced 6 new bikes for 2013.

Image has been taken from www.powersports.honda.com

From left to right:

Gold wing F6B
CBR 600RR
CB500F
CBR 500R
CB500X
CB1100

I personally love the CB500X and would love to see it here in India - not sure if that will happen though. It will be a great machine for touring!

Though I would love to own the CB1100 - it will surely not be brought here, even if so - it will be waaay out of my range.

Drool on!

Love that CB1100, looks great with that retro theme. Only problem might be the weight which is now on higher side. With just normal bike looks, won't be a problem to park anywhere.

Do agree on the CB500X, definitely a good one, if it reaches India. As everyone choices, would love CB1100 selling here.
But the goldwing looks like a "predator out on a prowl" from front.
Same engine, 3 different bikes into 3 different categories, interesting to see how they perform differently.

Re: Honda Powersports - 6 new bikes

For me, the CB 500X sounds like a great option. Considering that it is slotted as an "Adventure" bike - it will be great for touring and accordingly will be frugal too. Anyway, I am hoping that it will be coming to India. Priced around 4 lakhs, it will be a killer!

The riding position looks great on the bike - nice and relaxed. A 17 liter tank should give you around 400 kms on a fill? Or am I being too optimistic with mileage here?

The 41 mm front fork has 5.5 inches (14 cm) of travel - would be good for some not-so-serious off-roading? Drool drool

But is India ready for such a bike and does Honda think so?

Well as per the US website, its around $1500 costlier then CBR 250R. Sound crazy but with localization I am expecting something in the range of 2 lacs . Fingers crossed.

Cost of CBR250R in US is $4000 (non ABS) i.e. equivalent to INR 2,20,000 and 500R is INR 3,30,000 ($6000) 50% more. Hopefully we are not contemplating imports here.

My 2 cents, Kawasaki with 250R and 650R import prices have increased the perceived value of these bikes. In US Ninja 650R is around $6000 odd which is between 3 to 3.5 lac which is more realistic value. We would have also perceived (speculated) KTM retailing at 2.5 lacs if not because of localization, as the same bike sells at Par cost with 250cc abroad if not nore.

Common guys, don't tell me putting one more cylinder will increase the price by more then 133% to 3.5 lac odd (I know it's more then a cylinder ). I am hoping for localization as this bike is primarily designed for Asian markets.

Regards,
Maddy
