Used Choice: BMW F650GS or Suzuki DRZ 650. EDIT - Bought the Yamaha FZ-6R

I am in market for a light motorcycle, enduro or super moto, and am split between these two choices. Which one is a better choice considering maintenance etc. I won't ride more than 2000 miles an year, for next 5-10 years. They both cost about the same and are in same class.

Location please, i think you already shortlisted the bikes, hope you are not comparing the old Rotex engine BMWF650 with the latest F650GS, if you are thinking of buying it in USA why not new BMWF800GS.
Out of these two models my vote goes for BMW even though maintenance will be on costly side.

12 year old BMW F650 means the old Rotax engine. In that case I would suggest the Suzuki DRZ 650 over it 100%. Its a brilliant lgihtweight big single that is tough as nails and can go anywhere, with adequate highway power, good suspension, and is pretty lightweight, without too much body panel work to worry about in case you drop or bash it. I actually like it more than the KLR 650 (which I personally find pretty ugly in its new avatar - liked the old tank look better).

thanks folks. Price is the main factor considering I will ride it for leisure and riding months are low in here (Cincinnati). Can not convince myself to spend a lot of money for that. Second factor is riding height(30 in inseam). Drz has been in my list for a while but the test ride was too unrefined. I will keep looking. Drz 400sm is another strong contender.

a friend had a 2009 model with only 16xx miles on odo. picked it up today.
