H-D India: Smartphone application from Harley-Davidson

American motorcycle manufacturer, Harley-Davidson has launched H-D India, a smartphone application for its customers in India. The application is available on the iOS and Android platforms.

H-D India will give Harley-Davison owners the ability to create, share and plan rides, stay connected with their Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) chapters, follow events, share experiences, receive up to date information about their motorcycles, access roadside assistance and get information regarding new products from the company.

The application has an in-built custom social network which allows riders to follow each other's updates. Riders can even look for other riders in the vicinity when they are on the move and join them along the way. H-D India also allows riders to get directions for rides and share route details and photographs with others. Additionally, users can find nearby Harley-Davidson dealerships, fuel stations and cafes.

Reminders can be set for the bike's service and renewal of its, PUC certificates and insurance. Important details like the bike's registration and owner's driving licence can also be stored.

You need to enter your VIN no to receive your OTP before proceeding into the app. So make sure your mobile no. is registered with Harley India through your Chapter/Dealership. I received the OTP immediately on entering my VIN.

I have it installed and activated but of very minimal use. I don't see the chapter activates or other details getting updated here. Most of the info is available on Chapter FB page or HOG India FB page. So for me it is a waste of memory at this point.

I don't know where the feed is taken from. I had it on my Android phone with zero usage. Never bothered installing once I migrated to iOS

If this works as intended, it is a fantastic idea, and one that every single other bike maker in the country should follow ASAP (if they haven't already).
