EICMA 2015: Yamaha debuts the MT-10 naked bike!

Yamaha has confirmed its plans to launch the MT-10 in Europe at the end of May 2016. The naked bike features a 998cc, in-line four-cylinder, water-cooled engine with a crossplane crankshaft. If those terms sound familiar, it's because what we have here is a naked R1, with the power output expected to be in the range of 165 BHP and 101 Nm of torque, with the engine not making as much power as the R1, but delivering a better mid-range.

The MT-10's brutish and unapologetic look is anything but safe, with the term horribly beautiful seeming rather apt. The menacing "ray of darkness" design is more European than Japanese and the MT-10 will lock horns with BMW's S1000R among others. The MT-10 will come with a heap of gizmos on-board, including ABS, traction control (with three modes), selectable rider modes, and cruise control.

The aluminium deltabox frame is supported by USD forks up front with a rear monoshock. Stopping power comes from a 320 mm discs up front with a single 220 mm disc at the rear.

Very "Bumblebee" in the looks and I love the stance!

Although it looks like something straight out of a Transformer movie, I'm quite enamoured by this machine. The neon green rims are an eyesore, though.

It poses a great threat to the monopoly of the Z1000 in it's category and would love to see it in India soon. The MT series have never been much hyped and marketed in India. Just hope this one is. Because it actually seems to be worth it.

Meanwhile, I would pray that the Austrians launch at least the 990.

You can either hate it or like it. I don't know if that's the design philosophy that everyone wants to follow or its just become a trend to make motorcycles look more futuristic. That front assembly is Michael Bay's wet dream. But then it's a Yamaha. It's gorgeous overall. The force is strong here.

I do not know if it is due to the picture or not. The bike looks 'put together'. The lines of seat and the muffler are not parallel, and the front third of the bike has too many polygons and designs, but yes, streetfighters are very very practical bikes and hope it sells when launched.

Have Yamaha changed the name from MT 01 to MT 10 this time?!?

Re: EICMA 2015: Yamaha debuts the MT-10 naked bike!

The end of Fz1 is evident. Fz1 never got a decent upgrade from 2007 except ECU mapping upgrades and their power band was so weak compared to the kawasaki 1000 or even the Triple. I think the MT01 could be the answer to create a better power curve and this version comes will ABS and other electronic aids as well.

I think FZ1 will not be continued at this point and its weakness in the first 0-6000 RPM is where i want to see an improvement in this MT01.

Looks very promising for me. But i may be wrong on FZ1 getting the axe.

Why has the radiator to sit so low in a street-bike?

Bike looks nice in its own unique way.

I love it. It makes no apologies or compromises about what it is born to do - be a street thug!

That looks more like an oil cooler sitting low, isn't it?

Yes, it is an oil cooler, radiator sits on top of it.

But won't the oil-cooler get damaged with small hits from debris? Not sure though.

Where do other naked have their oil-coolers?

Thats the oil cooler. The oil cooler on my bike sits low as well, under the radiator. The only option is buy a guard for it. R&G and Evotech have some options available. Full value for money.

This looks killer, the aggression and the no nonsense look of the bike is simply amazing. I love the edges and specially the front - it gives a very bold statement of "Dont't Mess with Me".
