I got a quote from Mahammed from Wrapcraft, Bangalore. It is around 13k-15k depending the material chosen. Pearl White is around 15k. Matte White is around 13k. High gloss yellow and Satin orange around 15k. I doubt if 3M provides services for bikes and especially the wrap services. |

I was also told Wrapcraft are among the best in Bangalore and from the pics on their FB page, their work looks very good. But I was thinking the cost would be closer to 8-10k. Additionally, not sure why a 2K premium for matt finish. Probably thats what more people want for their cars & bikes! Thanks Prabu for sharing the price |
Thanks for the inputs about the wrap pricing. I am not in a hurry to wrap the bike immediately. Will enjoy the bike stock for atleast 3-6 months before deciding a course of action on color change. But, this info certainly helps

I am also getting a Denali D4 aux and hence it should be a good add-on. Thanks for the interesting idea on the bicycle blinkers |
Is Denali D4 Aux the only option for Auxiliary lights? What is it's pricing?
Would love to know if there are other options too (cheaper the better :D)

Thanks! The Final OTR Price came to 7.79 _ 4.5k extra for B2B Insurance.
Initially they quoted 7.77 but increase 2+K later. This is at Khivraj motors. |
I didn't quite understand this comment. What is this 4.5K extra for B2B ( Is this bumper to bumper insurance a.k.a Nil Dep?)...What is the price that you paid for insurance? Also request other V650 owners like Vprabhu and Dust_Harl to share the insurance amount they paid?

yes, about 4.5K extra for Bumper to Bumper Insurance. Total Insurance premium is Rs.19325. Without the the B2B clause, its about 15k.
They said B2B will include all the plastic parts, fairings, etc which i thought are the weak points on this bike, esp with respect to likely drops.

I am going to share something that is going to make you sad ( sorry about that)
I got a quote for 19.1K (Nil Dep) from Hyderabad dealer for an ex-showroom price of 6.71 lakhs and 14.XX for normal insurance
Dealer was insisting that 1st insurance we have to take from them and 2nd year onwards, we can go outside to anyone we feel like
I was adamant that I will not pay that much insurance as it's ridiculously high ( I thought so) and checked with my bank and their assigned insurance agent (United India Insurance), same folks who did it for my Bonnie too
Can you believe the quote that I got from them?
It was 9,700 on Ex-Showroom price (6.71 Lakhs) and this is for "Nil Depreciation" clap:
Congratulations to everyone who has got their ride, really happy to see that things have more or less worked out for most folks on this thread.
Here's another very recent review of the versys twins I just came about
http://gearpatrol.com/2015/08/03/kaw...ys-comparison/
That red looks so sick! Damn kawi India for not releasing more colors.

And then there will be a catch. That insurance will not qualify for Cashless claims as they would not be tied up with Kawasaki.
My Multistrada insurance is around 50+k and bank offered the same for some 26k but then figured they aren't tied up with Ducati for cashless claims.
God forbid one has to make a claim -- person making the claim would wish for insurance from the showroom.
nasirkaka -- you can continue to be cheerful! lol:
Congrats nasirkaka on finally getting the Versys and bringing her home.
I guess the aux light and a better horn would be a good addition for touring duty.
Ofcourse eagerly looking forward to the full ownership thread.
Ride safe and enjoy piling up the miles.

Was reading a lot about this topic recently because of acquiring the CBR. Spoke to good friends who have better hands on experience.
This is what I did. Baby the bike for the first 200-300 Kms.
Start riding her as you would normally while being gentle with the throttle or rather with all inputs for the next 200 KMs.
Than try showing the entire rev range (2K below red line) to each gear. So basically the concept is to pull each gear from low down to an RPM which is 2K below the redline and than let the bike coast. This makes the engine go through the heat and cold cycles quickly and helps in the pistons getting set well. How? Please don't ask me. Not technically sound enough to understand.
But I followed this. Took it to Yamuna expressway and in each gear pulled closer to redline and than let it coast. I did it one day and than afterwards during my regular city riding would try doing this for the next 300 odd Kms.
After that the next 200 Odd Kms to the first service I just rode it like I would.
Recently the service guy rode my bike and he had good words to say about my bike's engine. Cant comment on its scientific accuracy but hearing it still felt good. :D

Thanks for this, was just thinking about it this morning!
In terms of environment, what kind of a first trip would you suggest for someone who wants to complete the running in over a weekend? What kind of roads?
Would you suggest a ride into the mountains, say ooty or coonoor, where you are forced to keep the speed low but the rpms constantly fluctuating? Also a fair bit of highway thrown in prior to the mountains. |
Honestly where you can replicate how you want to Run-In should be good. Straight highways are generally not good. The process of continuously varying pace and being within certain constraints might get boring after lets say 100 KMs. The ideal is city riding with moderate traffic.
My personal opinion is hills are good to. Relaxed hill riding should help. Since I am from hills, I have always felt vehicle in hills generally have better run in engines.
CHEERS!!

What is a cashless insurance claim? A claim made by an individual from the insurer without having to pay anything from pocket in advance?
If above understanding is correct. Then this insurance is a cashless facility ( in simple words, I don't pay anything upfront and insurer will pay the dealership directly for all expense incurred in repairing the bike).
The same person insured my Bullet and Bonnie so I know him personally for many years and this awesome 0% dep insurance quote is also conditional to taking a loan from Vijay Bank with whom they are tied up.
I am definitely cheerful of the fact that I will be saving upfront 10K on my insurance:)
Check if Kawasaki has a tie up with that insurance company to honor cashless claims. The insurance services provider may have cashless add one of their features but your dealer may not honor that. Just speaking out of experience. Rest is up to individuals to make a wise decision.

AFAIK Kawasaki Service Center in Bangalore do not have tie up with any Insurance company for Cashless claims. I had got my Z800 insured from HDFC Ergo via Khivraj but service guys had told me that in an event of a claim, i have to pay all expenses upfront and later claim from insurance company.
Then it makes sense to opt for whoever gives a better quote and provides good services. I wish nobody have to get to claiming insurance. Amen!

No, Denali D4 is not the only option. You got the option of Cyclops round LED lights and few more. The advantage with Denali is that its a composite focus lamp, i.e it has 2 led focussing close and 2 focussing far , that way you get good spread of illumination close to far. In case of Cyclops one has to opt for a close focus and far focus combo with the spot on right side of bike and close focus on left side to get a even and effective illumination.
Unfortunately all branded LEDs come at appx price of 24-25k + price range unless one goes for Ebay/Alibaba/DX.com type with price starting from about 2k for a pair. A few fellow TBHPians have used the latter variety and are happy. Personally feel better to go for branded ones for quality issues.
I am planning on either Denali D4 or Long Range Optimus LED Aux light with 10 & 20 degree lens combo with amber covers for use during Foggy condition depending on availability while ordering.
You can check websites like twistedthrottle, motousher, a2zmotorcyclesuperstore and bigbadbikes for various kinds/price auxilliary lights available.

Good Input Ajay. I think will need to get a clarity from dealership about how they handle insurance claims. I think this is purely dealership centric
Will keep this at back of hand when I speak to them next:thumbs up

Absolutely. I wish nobody gets the opportunity to use insurance.
Touchwood, I have never claimed any insurance till date for all cars and bikes that I owned ( 14+ of them)
Will pray to god to help me continue to keep this clean record:)

25K for aux lamps sounds simply ridiculous. Will have to look for cheaper alternate for sure
It's not really high priority for me. Will wait for you good gents to identify an alternate option and share it here...

Woah? That's absurd. The dealership seems to be lazy. It's ridiculous to expect the customer to pay upfront for parts and later follow up with the insurance company for claims. Replacement parts are expensive. This will put a dent in your pocket, which shouldn't be the case as insurance does provide cashless options. The dealer needs to be pulled up by owners for this.
