On a related note, the spare tyre on my Storme is mounted outside, on the under-side of the body. It picks up enough muck during usage. When I have to use the spare, I have a clean one and I dont have touch any of that dirt that would otherwise have been on the tyre.
Can you post some pics of what you have done here. Maybe I will need to use that too for my Ertiga

You could also use one of those rexine covers that we see on rear-mounted spare wheels.
