Triumph Tiger Explorer XCx launched at Rs. 18.75 lakh

Triumph has launched the Tiger Explorer XCx at Rs. 18.75 lakh (ex-showroom India). The adventure bike now gets semi-active suspension, ABS and traction control optimized for cornering as well as three riding modes. The bike will be imported as a CBU.

The Tiger Explorer XCx is powered by a 1,215 cc, inline 3-cylinder engine making 137 BHP @ 9,300 rpm and 123 Nm of torque @ 6,400 rpm. Power is sent via a 6-speed gearbox and a shaft type final drive setup. Triumph claims the new exhaust system has enhanced engine performance.

Triumph's semi-active suspension allows the rider to electronically adjust damping and preload. A rider can also configure the bike up using three riding modes- Normal, Comfort, Sports. Multi-channel ABS and traction control system as well as an electrically adjustable screen are new on the Tiger Explorer XCx.

The Explorer XCx rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels shod with 120/70 R19 and 170/60 R17 tyres respectively. Braking duties are handled by twin 305 mm floating discs with Brembo 4-piston, monobloc calipers up front and a single 282 mm disc at the rear.

Other features include cruise control, heated grips, fog lights, immobilizer, hand guard, radiator and sump guards, analogue tachometer with LCD display, 12V power sockets and a 5V under seat USB port.

Thank you for sharing this piece of info TusharK! This iteration of the explorer is now well equipped and competes neck to neck with the Ducati Multistrada 1200s and the king of the segment BMW R1200GS. I only wish Triumph would have brought this bike via the CKD route and we could have seen at-least a 16.xx price tag and that would attract a lot of potential buyers, just my two cents.

Since it's priced in the GS territory, this will surely face tough competition in the segment. But, I am not really sure about the ''after sales service'' aspect of either Ducati, Triumph nor BMW.

I think you are just being nice and saying it quite subtly

My reading is Explorer 1200 which anyway has not seen any great success abroad will go through the same story in India. It will be sold in single digits as the previous model did

Will someone choose a Explorer 1200 when you are paying the same price over a GS1200? If he does, then I think he already has a GS1200 in his garage

Lol, I strongly agree with you and you are right, it's really difficult to pick the Explorer over a 1200GS!

Apart from this we have more players coming in this segment, especially the more reliable Japanese guys like Honda. The Africa Twin is making quite a strong case for itself. My eyes are on it and all other adventure machines
