Harley-Davidson has launched the Forty-Eight Special in India. The Sportster is priced from Rs. 10.98 lakh (ex-showroom).



The Forty-Eight Special measures 2,165 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 1,495 mm. The ground clearance of the bike is 110 mm and the seat is set at a height of 710 mm. The bike weighs 247 kg (as shipped) and comes equipped with a 7.9 litre fuel tank.



The Forty-Eight Special is based on the Forty-Eight Sportster but comes with a few modifications. It has a Dark Custom style fuel tank with 70's custom tank art and 7.25-inch tallboy handlebars. The bike rides on 49 mm front forks and emulsion rear shock absorbers that have screw adjusters and split 9-spoke cast aluminium alloy wheels.



The bike is powered by a 1,202cc, V-twin cylinder engine that generates 96 Nm of torque @ 4,250 rpm and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. It comes equipped with disc brakes at the front and rear with dual-piston calipers at both ends.

Prices vary depending on the choice of colour:

Vivid Black - Rs. 10,98,000

Color - Rs. 11,08,000

Two-tone - Rs. 11,39,000

Custom color- Rs. 11,52,000

Two-tone custom color - Rs. 11,52,000

110 mm GC and a 7.9-litre tank? Did i read that correct?
I am not much into HD, so don't follow their launches / products but the specifications look bad. It should get a 6-speed box at least.

The 48 always had a 8 litre tank. Peanut tank is what it is informally called as.
It(the tank) was first launched the 1948, from where the name comes.

I was a massive fan of the previous gen of the 48, one of the very few Harleys to appeal to me.

Its a Harley - dont expert modern specs or performance. Only a lot of sound and bling.
