Triumph has issued a recall for the Speed Triple S, Speed Triple RS, Street Triple RS and Tiger 1200 in the USA for a front brake issue.



The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have found a potential manufacturing defect in the front brakes on the Tiger 1200 range, Speed Triple S, Speed Triple RS and Street Triple RS motorcycles manufactured between 2018 and 2020.

The NHTSA claims that the brakes might have a higher concentration of Nickel, which may result in more salt and water being absorbed on the back plate. This could corrode the brake pads, especially in winter and rainy conditions. The brake pad friction material could also come off the backing plate which could cause the brakes to fail.



The Street Triple RS was launched in India in April, this year. Triumph also offers the Tiger 1200 adventure bike in India. It is unclear if bikes sold in India are also affected by this issue.

Correction! Its the "Speed" Triple S. The Street Triple S run on Nissin 2-piston sliding calipers at the front.

The issue seems to be with Brembo M50s equipped on these bikes.

I am trying to find out if the batches of bikes equipped with Brembo M50's sold in India are affected too.

Will keep you all posted if I find that information.
