Aprilia RSV4 & Tuono recalled in the USA

Aprilia has recalled the RSV4 1000 RF, RSV4 1000 RR, Tuono 1100 RR and Tuono 1100 RF in the USA for faulty front brake pads that are likely to corrode. A total of 3,287 bikes built between 2017 and 2020 have been affected by this issue.

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Brembo front brake pads used on these bikes have a high content of nickel, which may result in more salt and water being absorbed. This could corrode the brake pads, especially in winter and rainy conditions. The brake pads could fall off the back plate due to the corrosion and cause brake failure.

Aprilia will be contacting the owners of the affected bikes from May 22, 2020 onwards to get the front brake pads replaced free of cost.

It is still unclear if bikes sold in India are also affected by this issue.

Re: Aprilia RSV4 & Tuono recalled in the USA

Considering drawings, specs and manufacturing requirements are identical internationally, this needs to be worldwide. If they don't do a recall here, it reeks of indifference. Perhaps owners should reach out to respective companies and see what their stance is.
