Planning on picking up my friends Honda CBR600, 97 model, amazingly well maintained, quoting 3.40lakhs. Need to know from the bike gurus if this is a good price. please:
Post some pictures , 3.4 is little high .
There was one going for almost 3 . I dont know whether its the same one you are looking .Post some pictures of the bike so that ppl who the bike can comment.
Will post the pics next week since my friend is out of town this weekend.
Also, can you guys please help me in knowing how I go about getting finance for this bike? I do not want to pump in all the liquid cash I have saved up till date. Superbikers please help.
i think one way is a personal loan...but then again it would be better to use your saved pennys..
dude, they charge close to 19% interest on personal loans. I thought of going for a top up loan on my existing home loan which should work out cheaper. what say?
Yes a top up on the home loan will be cheaper. My colleague picked up an Ikon Flair using this route.
Top up loan is good idea but it also depends on how much tenure is left over on the loan, if its anywhere more than 15 years it will be a lot of interest u will pay at the end of it but it wont pinch u now on an EMI front.
Coming to the bike, you can never say what bike is worth how much, I sold my 97 model CBR600 3 years ago and then I got 3.5, the bike was very well kept by my cousin b4 i got it and It had just 12000 totally on the ODO, so the good price, but u never know as I said, try to have some person who has owned superbikes earlier see that bike and give u a genuine advice.
3 is a good price. its a 10 yr old bike now!
high price and all, so whose finding me a genuine 97 good papers cbr 600 for 3L, or even 3.2 L?
IMO 3.4L is a
reasonable price if the bike is well kept and has clean paperwork.

That probably was from the f2 series and not a genuine 97, the f2 series i think existed from 92 - 94 and was succeeded by the f3 in 95 and existed upto 97.
@mb_jg: what do the bike graphics say, f2 or f3?
and there s hardly any cosmetic difference between the f2 and the f3, lookout for the air dams, and a different tail piece for a late 96 and 97 f3.
the 95 f3 shared the tail with the older f4, only difference between those would be the location of the air dams.
For verification via cosmetics, browse through:

that site is very helpful dude. I did not see stickers on the bike since my pal was having it re-painted to a different paint scheme. But I can vouch for the bike's condition. I will post pics very soon.
i'd second manny for sure dude a clean bikes hard to find.at that price.
You've raised a good point Manson.
Anyone who has hunted for bikes would know that 3.4 is a decent price for a clean bike.
Lol. I've said it before and I'll say it again. When it comes to posting, there will be a dozen people who will say "too expensive" or "i know someone who bought a newer one for less". However, aside from a few very rare instances, these stories are largely made up. If a bike is going too cheap, there would be a reason for it.
