I wish they had retained the dual headlight look from the previous version. This single headlight makes it look like the big brother of FZS 25. Don't know what were the experts from Yamaha design team thinking.

Yamaha really did touch and change everything on this bike. Its an exciting departure.

Comes loaded now with all the bells and whistles. An updated engine, spectacular brakes , quickshifter, TFT display and rider aids to name a few.

All depends on how its going to be on the tarmac. I t has the show, lets hope it has the go as well and by the looks of it we have a cracker on our hands.

Re: 2021 Yamaha MT-09 unveiled

I'm yet to see one in flesh in India and its all got to do with Yamaha's lackadaisical attitude. They have fantastic products globally that we don't see or even if we do, its only in the pictures from the launch event cause Yamaha simply doesn't care about the A.S.S of these bikes (most don't anyway at varying degrees). But I hope with Honda warming up to us, slowly yet surely, Yamaha doesn't stay too far behind.

Back to the MT-09, it was a hooligan and hope it hasn't lost much of the character. All new aluminum frame so did it get (even) lighter? Was already under 200kg i think. The rest of the upgrades bring it on par with the competition. The new alloys look nicer too in my opinion - go with the new less flashy look maybe. Sadly though, those twin-headlights were a part of that character and made it stand out like no other. I've ridden the MT-07 and though its a totally different bike, makes me wonder how much more fun the MT-09 would be.

There's a 4 kg weight reduction in kerb weight over the previous model: 193 kg to 189 kg.

Re: 2021 Yamaha MT-09 unveiled

The super aggressive, low hung, twin headlamps of previous generation were a cracker! Why did they go back to mono piece and also it sits higher than previous setup giving it slightly awkward stance. Hope other changes more than make up for it.

Re: 2021 Yamaha MT-09 unveiled

Picking up a 3000 km run 6 month old MT-09 for approx 5.5L soon here in BC, Canada. Hoping that this can be used for my first days at the track school or will have to end up picking up a RC390 2022 until I get better.
