BMW R 18 Classic launched at Rs. 24 lakh
BMW Motorrad has launched the R 18 Classic 'First Edition' cruiser bike in India. It will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) and is priced at Rs. 24 lakh (ex-showroom).
The BMW R 18 Classic is based on double cradle frame. It has a teardrop shaped fuel tank with double pinstripes and an exposed driveshaft reminiscent of the boxer from 1936. The bike features a circular instrument cluster and LED headlights with sickle shaped LED daytime running lights.
The R 18 Classic is powered by a 1,802cc, air-cooled, 2-cylinder boxer engine that produces 90 BHP @ 4,750 rpm and 158 Nm @ 3,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and a shaft drive. A reverse gear is available as an option. The bike has three riding modes - Rain, Roll and Rock.
The bike rides on 16-inch spoke wheels. The brake setup consists of twin disc brakes at the front and a single disc brake with 4-piston fixed callipers at the rear.
The standard features offered on the R 18 Classic include traction control, Automatic Stability Control, Dynamic Engine Brake Control, Hill Start Control, Keyless Ride system, ABS and cruise control.

I don't think forward mounted controls can be added to this. Obviously one would use this cruiser for long distance touring. The seating posture somehow does not seem comfortable for an extended period of time. You can just stretch your legs over the crash guard for a bit.
