2022 Indian Motorcycle Chief range priced from Rs. 20.76 lakh

Indian Motorcycle has announced the prices of its new 2022 Chief line-up, which includes the Chief Dark Horse, Chief Bobber Dark Horse and Super Chief Limited, in India. The bikes are priced from Rs. 20,75,922.

The line-up includes new model iterations, technology updates, and genuine Indian Motorcycle accessories, which are now available at the Indian Motorcycle dealerships across India. To pre-book these bikes, interested customers can pay a booking amount of Rs. 3,00,000 at any Indian Motorcycle dealerships across the country from today. Deliveries will begin after the launch, which is scheduled to take place in the second quarter of 2021.

The 2022 Chief features a wheelbase of 1,626 mm a seat height of 662 mm and a wet weight of 304 kg. The Chief has a conventional 46 mm fork suspension with 5.2-inches of travel at the front and a lean angle of 28.5 degrees. It is powered by a 1,890cc Thunderstroke 116 engine that develops 162 Nm @ 3,200 rpm.

Is it just me or does the 2022 Indian Chief look like a Harley Davidson Clone. It definitely seems to have lost the iconic Indian Chief looks like the iconic mudguards, the headlight cluster. (Picture for reference)

If I was buying a big American cruiser worth 20Lac plus I would probably look for a selling point. No doubt this version of the Chief may be better to ride and may be faster and have a cleaner engine which is better for the environment but for me (compared to previous versions) this seems like a Harley Davidson clone.

I'm not a motorcycle enthusiast and my knowledge is limited. Isn't it sad to see a 20Lac motorcycle with single disc in the front? Its not just about aesthetics, isnt a single disc inadequate for such a massive bike with lot of power?

I for one absolutely love the looks of the bike. They have kept it conventional but it is amazingly beautiful in close up pictures. However, disappointed by the pricing.

With the gap left by Harley's exit in the interim, they could've priced it competitively - say starting from 16 lac onwards, maybe even tried their hands at CKD assembly in India for the Scout, FTR and Chief range.
