Re: 2021 Suzuki GSX-S1000 teased: global unveil on April 26

Suzuki has updated the 999cc inline-four motor to be Euro 5 compliant. With a touch more peak power than the outgoing model, now sitting at 152 PS (150 bhp) peaking at 11,000 rpm, plenty of focus has been placed on the delivery of power in the low to mid rev ranges to enjoy a broader spread of torque which you'll notice with normal riding. Updated internals include a new intake and exhaust camshaft with revised cam profiles, new valve springs, clutch, airbox, and new exhaust retaining the recognizable aggressive grunt, yet stuffed with an additional catalytic converter for emissions reasons.

Updated electronic throttle bodies, with a new ride-by-wire throttle, advances the electronic suite past the previous model, with a host of rider aids & options updated in 2021 for increased performance. The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) and Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) with three modes (A through C), will all aim to boost controllability by adjusting the sharpness and immediacy of the delivery of power to the rear wheel, with an assist function added to the slipper clutch, and the Suzuki Clutch Assist system - which aims to prevent the rear tyre locking up under heavy downshifts.

Also thrown in this year are a quickshifter and auto-blipper, a new traction control system with five modes, and Suzuki low-rpm assist. All the selections being made through an updated LCD dash, yanked from the GSX-R1000!

Really in love with the way it looks in the Blue shade makes it a proper streetfighter.

Just hope the the throttle is not snappy anymore at low speeds and could have had a TFT screen and more potent brakes but then this is one affordable liter naked in the market with the legendary k5 engine

In the UK this would be out later part of June and maybe can be expected in India somewhere in September/October.

Thanks for sharing.

Looks menacing for a change, something that the prior design theme lacked.

The plastic trim below the tank looks a bit ungainly, but that’s just nitpicking. For a change, this is a fantastic design by Suzuki, hats off! Thank god they didn’t hire the same person who designed the ugly Katana.

IMHO, Suzuki should’ve considered launching this in India instead of the Katana, which has a weird design theme that appeals to few, instead of many.

The Katana also gets a puny 14l tank as opposed to the 19l on this new GSX S1000.

If anyone at Suzuki India bothers to listen to enthusiasts, please, pretty please, get this GSX S1000 here. Not every Indian wants to buy only the Hayabusa!

Yes, looks like a proper streetfighter and those wings have been integrated well with the overall design and doesn't look like a afterthought like in some other bikes.

Suzkui will definitely launch this In India and as most Eurpean markets might get theirs only by later part of June/July we could expect this around the festive season later this year in India.

When this was launched in 2015 the difference between this and the Hayabusa in India was just over a lac for the CKD version which reduced further when Octroi was taken out in Mumbai. However, now the difference between this and Gen 3 will be much higher and hopefully people won't purchase a Busa over this just for the price

Some english test ride reviews have started coming in and Chris from Bike World has done an excellent job once again

But, it seems Suzuki are just not able to fix the snappy throttle in A mode
