All-new Honda CBR750R sportbike in the works; to rival the Yamaha R7

According to media reports, Honda is working on a new fully-faired middleweight sportbike. The new 750cc motorcycle will reportedly be called the CBR750R and will be based on the recently unveiled CB750 Hornet and the Transalp adventure motorcycle.

As per the renderings shared online, the upcoming Honda CBR750R will come with angular bodywork with sharp styling cues all around. It will also feature an upswept tail section and an exhaust system resembling that of the brand's CBR1000RR-R Fireblade.

In terms of powertrain, the CBR750R will borrow the same 755cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine from the Hornet. Power and torque figures could also be the same, with the engine on the Hornet making 92 BHP @ 9,500 rpm and 74.4 Nm @ 7,000 rpm.

The new Honda CBR750R, once launched in the international market, will take on the likes of the Yamaha R7.

Re: All-new Honda CBR750R sportbike in the works; to rival the Yamaha R7

Guess, this should have much better lower end and mid end compared to the CBR650R since this being a twin and should have some more buzz at higher revs as per reviews of CB750 Hornet. Would be great if they give it a sports tourer stance and riding position like the CBR650F. But the biggest gripe would be the fact whether Honda launches it in India and even if they do then they are going to price it way too high that very few would be bothered about this.

Great to see Honda jumping into the twin class, joining the aging Suzuki SV650, R7, and Aprillia's RS650. These twins are partly aimed at the Twins-class (Twins Cup) at venues like MotoAmerica where Suzuki SV650 dominated for years until R7 was launched, and now just look at the last few years' podium places!

Once launched, Honda displacing Yamaha can be a real possibility in the Twins-class.

Improved street-ability is just a side benefit, and these are great sounding 270-deg crank twins with a lot of character. Yes, a CB750 with a relaxed geometry like Tuono 660 would be great, but it may not sell in numbers. The US will be the biggest market followed by Europe.

Despite a lovely soundtrack, the CBR650R is dull to ride in our country where we hardly get to use that in-line 4's true potential. This 750 twin should be much more lively to ride. I hope they bring out a sharp-looking bike to take the fight to the Aprilia RS660 and R7 directly.
