Kawasaki Mumbai dealer offering to buyback ZX-10R within 12 months

Mumbai’s Anzen Kawasaki is offering a guaranteed buyback offer on the ZX-10R. As part of this limited-period offer, customers can return the bike within 12 months and get 50% of the down payment back.

Kawasaki Mumbai dealer offering to buyback ZX-10R within 12 months-344dbcbbc947ef8b3610c8782f3a3763.jpg

The Kawasaki ZX-10R costs Rs 16.15 lakh (ex-showroom). The down payment is Rs 1,98,500, while the EMI works out to Rs 37,750 for 5 years. The dealer will bear the EMI and will refund 50% of the down payment if the bike is returned within 12 months.

That being said, the dealership has set a few conditions to avail of this offer. The bike shouldn’t have run more than 5,000 km and must be in “good condition”. It should be serviced regularly at an authorized Kawasaki dealer and should not be modified in any way, which would impact its warranty. Finally, the bike must be accident-free throughout its ownership.

Re: Kawasaki Mumbai dealer offering to buyback ZX-10R within 12 months

I doubt that someone who buys this isn't going to ride more than 5000km in a year. What's the point of getting this beast if you don't take it to a track every weekend and burn rubber?

If I had 5000 Rs for every superbike I’ve seen with less than 5000 kms in a year, I’d possibly have another superbike by now.

It takes a fair bit to plant serious miles on a “weekend only” machine, even more so when its a supersports style track tool (not that these can’t tour but unlikely choice for people who want to explore the length and breadth of India).

Re: Kawasaki Mumbai dealer offering to buyback ZX-10R within 12 months

If we break it down -
EMI - ₹37,750 x 12 = ₹4,53,000
Down Payment (Effective, after 50% return) - ₹99,000

Payable vehicle cost for 1 Year - ₹5,52,000
RTO - ₹ 2,27,676
Insurance (Comprehensive) - ₹ 47,766
TCS 1% - ₹ 16,150
RSA (Road Side Assistance) - ₹ 4,999
Estimated Service Charges for 1 5000 kms service ~ ₹15000

Cost to customer - ₹8,63,592 for 1 year

Cost of ZX-10R On Road Mumbai - ₹19,11,591

So a customer would be spending roughly 45% of the total price to experience the Ninja ZX-10R

The original article stated that the EMI will be borne by the dealer. Not sure who will pay for RTO, insurance, RSA. Most probably will be the buyer.

Still 863592 - 453000 = 410592 is a lot of money for a single year deal and that too with lot of conditions by Kawasaki, which mostly while returning the bike will come up and reduce the buyback price.

I believe the EMI that will be borne by the dealer refers to the remaining EMIs, though it's not clear

1) Only the remaining EMI would be paid by the dealer.
2) The vehicle would be registered on your name and you'll be the owner of it. So everything would be borne by you (RTO, Insurance, RSA, Service Charges);
If they find your vehicle to be good enough, they'll buy it back. Or, else you will have to keep that vehicle and the EMI would continue as it is.

Yes, your calculations are correct. But the true on-road costs for outright purchase, considering EMI for 60 months will be higher. Per your calculator -

EMI - ₹37,750 x 60 = ₹18,87,500
Down Payment - ₹1,98,000
RTO - ₹ 2,27,676
Insurance (Comprehensive) - ₹ 47,766
TCS 1% - ₹ 16,150
RSA (Road Side Assistance) - ₹ 4,999
Estimated Service Charges for 1 5000 kms service ~ ₹15000

Cost to customer - approx 24 Lac, considering service/ RSA for 1st Year.

Still paying 9 lac for a Year -

Re: Kawasaki Mumbai dealer offering to buyback ZX-10R within 12 months

Corporate schemes are often aimed to misguide customers into thinking they're beneficial. The two things we need to consider are:-

1. Always compare this offer to the second hand market where you can actually get a very good price for your liter class, due to the market's nature, specially if its under 5000 kms.
@Octane99 Good analysis buddy. Very helpful in raising awareness, in case a rare customer doesn't check it well.

2. You have to ask:- where will the buy back bikes go?
Will they be recycled back into the system as new bikes through some technicality?
Will they be sold to new customers as test ride bike, "Sir, this is test ride bike, We'll give you 50k discount?!"

Either way, I'm a positive person and I think if someone else is cheated indirectly through my initiative, I'd rather not do it. I think its not a scheme, its just an invitation for a proposal, they don't like, they reject, simple.

Would it be possible to go for BH series registration? In that case, RTO cost would be very less.

Not a good deal. This sounds exactly like a lease option done by Spinny, Zoomcar etc, where you end up paying almost 40% of the car cost in a year, If its a company lease no problem. with the present sky high prices better to buy with EMI and sell later at a 25% loss at the end of 1 year with around 5k on the odo.

sounds somewhat similar to a PCP deal which are popular in the UK and are backed by the financial arms of the OEMs, only a lot less flexible.
