Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd had unveiled the all new XSR900GP sports heritage model for the European market, reminiscent of the GP factory machines of the 1980s.

The 2024 Yamaha XSR900 GP is powered by Team Blue’s liquid-cooled, dual overhead cam, three-cylinder 890cc CP3 engine that produces 117.3 hp at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.

The XSR900GP was developed under the concept of "The Embodiment of Yamaha Racing History." Based on the XSR900, the new model has been built and tuned to provide comfortable performance on winding roads and sporty handling. In terms of design, the new Grand Prix machine-style exterior represents the history and spirit that the Company has cultivated in the world's most prestigious road races.

The main features include:

1) a new exterior inspired by the 1980s Grand Prix model YZR500;
2) separate handlebars and a completely rearranged riding position;
3) tuning of the chassis rigidity;
4) adoption of the Bridgestone Batrax S23 tires, resetting of the spring constant and damping characteristics of the front and rear suspensions, and the addition of brake hoses for improved controllability;
5) riding assist technologies such as YRC (Yamaha Ride Control) and cruise control systems;
6) 5-inch full-color TFT meters with Connectivity and Type-C USB socket, and more.

Prior to the release, Yamaha Motor will exhibit at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 and at EICMA 2023 (International Two-Wheeler Exhibition). Launch in Japan is scheduled for 2024 summer onwards. There is no confirmation of an India launch.

Doubtful this comes to India but I really hope this design language catches on as a trend. Retro bikes so far have been modelled on the gorgeous beauties of the 50s and 60s. It's time we brought back the funky lines of the 80s and 90s imo. Will continue to drool over this till that happens.

I read about global bike launches of Yamaha like I do it for cars from Nissan. Purely for educational purposes with no chance of them making it to India. And to feel a great deal of jealousy for what the world gets but we don't.

I love the XSR range! This looks so good. Also, I was checking Yamaha websites of other regions, and there are so many cool official accessories & parts available to customize the XSRs as per taste!

But we probably would never get it here. Even the big bikes which were showcased earlier are nowhere to be seen.

At least the XSR155 should be launched.

Wow..just wow. The half fairing and all that exposed engine underneath just looks cool. I am definitely getting one of these as and when it is available in my city.

Up until now I was 95% sure of getting the Z900 RS, however this beauty just tilts the balance in her favor.
