Yamaha FZ1000 in India

Is it true that yamaha is going to launch the FZ1 in india soon?

Tried googling it,,and yes did find various reports but all were dated march 2009 and nothing recent. Does anyone have any info on this offering by Yamaha?

Man, that yellow FZ1 looks stunning.
Thanks guys

According to the yamaha company people yes it will be launched.and at a very competetive price too.

Also i had a chat with the R&D manager of bajaj.he asked for a feedback from me on the KTM 990.what he says is that it's going to be launched soon and probably at a price lower or equal to the CB1000 naked bike from honda.

, when do we get to see cheaper bikes .
KTM 990 launching should be a significant step .Lets hope they launch it at around ~ 8 Lakhs on road..until then

On a recent visit to Chennai I was surprised to see some heavy hardware kocking around near Adaya and the Marina, was always under the impression there was a capacity restriction. After joiming this forum and seeing the bikes available had me drooling, so if you guys can get big guns do they have restrictions on power output like they have in France and Germany with a max of 100bhp

I don't think they'll price it that way. Expect an on-road price of 10 lakh.

If there are no restrictions on power outputs. What is the claimed output for the litre bikes on the Indian market like the RI, Gixer and the Fireblade?

A price near the CB would be stupid because the FZ doesnt look nearly as nice. Also HD has priced some of their bikes really really nicely. 6.5 lakh for this one and I am putting my money down. You listening Yamaha?

The KTM 690 is apparently coming out for 9.5ish. Ex showroom. W-A-Y too expensive considering the CB1000R is in the same range. One can expect the 990 duke (if and when launched) to be around 12.

The CB1000 is not quite in comparison with the FZ. I would pick the Yammie anyday over this particular Honda; more power, comfort, touring abilities, et al. Apart from looks and refinement, the Honda pretty much loses out on everything else.

7-ish on-road for the Yammie would be R-E-A-L-L-Y, catastrophically, unbearably mouth watering. But sadly, methinks with the 09' R1 being launched at 13.5 on-road, chances are that the FZ would be launched at around 10 ish....(sigh).

At this rate, by the time a decently priced 600 comes out, we would be able to buy a used, fully-legal OE import litre class for half as much. Bah.

speaking of 'dcent 600's, i was around the inorbit area this morning, walked into to yamaha factory outlet for some 'timepass' and on display was a fz6 red color.

On asking i was told it was just a display piece and no idea if and when it was going to be launched, why then display it? Oh and the MTO1 is not available anymore, does that mean yamaha will actually launch fz1 soon?
