Wow. 40 bikes already sold. That looks like an excellent start for namma bengaluru. Awaiting pics of the showroom.

Now this is something interesting.
I called the number listed for BLR dealer on HD site...
Spoke to a person there...I enquired about HD not servicing the bikes in Ind.
The guy told me that "if you've brought your bike under legal import channel then we will service your bike"
Now what I heard sometime back was that HD will not service the bikes unless you buy it in India...
So has HD changed their stance or is it only BLR dealer who is going outta way to do this service?

Pls PM me if you wanna know the name of the person that I spoke with if anyone is interested

May be HD would've said in crystal clear on their communication, some joker in the media would've not published the lines after the "if" statement.

Should be HD because any dealer cannot afford to do something on his own without HD's consent isn't it?

I was told by the distributor in Saudi Arabia that the 2 year warranty is an international one and must be honored by any authorized Harley distributor worldwide irrespective of where you bought the bike. However, a 'sub-distributor' is not required to honour it. I guess the illegal import is more to do with not having to service a stolen bike making its way from Europe/USA or DRI coming in to make checks & harassing the dealer. I think its a prudent decision by them since in the present scenario, only NRIs could be importing the bikes they are already using & that will be done legally in most cases. Nevertheless, will you be required to show the dealer all your customs documentation first to prove its a legal import??
Anyways, after the warranty period, it is plain business sense to service any HD customer irrespective of a direct import (legal ofcourse) or the one sold by HD India. After all, most dealerships make their money on parts, accessories & service and I am sure HD customers will anyway make more visits.... (ok I didnt mean to repair, but to accessorize;))

I think I had met the same Srinivas Reddy some years back at Madur CCD, if he owns a silver BMW R1150GS Adventure.

For folks in Pune.. there is a Harley showroom coming up for us. I just happened to check today TOI Ascent and there was an advertisement for showroom execs.
