BIMOTA DB5R BREAKS COVER
23 May 2006

Bimota revealed its 2007 DB5R retro styled Clubmans racer, which will retail for 22,500 euros, plus VAT.

The super trick DB5R features Oz racing wheels, discs by Braking, Brembo radial calipers, lightweight plastic resin fairing panels, Ohlins suspension and atweaked Ducati DS1000 motor, running about 98bhp through titanium exhausts.

The DB5R is aimed at riders who want something they can trackday, or race in a series like the Italian Desmo Challenge, or a `Twins' type championship.

The DB5R will be available at the Milan show in autumn 2006 and Bimota say they have another two bikes on the drawing boards for 2008, including a rewroking of the legendary Tesi concept bike.

The expansion is being funded by a rolling three million euro investment package, and will see Bimota distributors and dealers being appointed as production increases from a predicted 400 units for 2006, to around 800 units in 2008.

Bimota DB5/DB6 owners will be able to have their engine servicing - plus any recalls, or software updates - carried out at Ducati dealerships as well, as the partnership continues between Ducati and Bimota

IMHO, MV deserves that title thanks to bikes like the Agusta and the Brutale, and outight brutal performance.

However, the Delirio has driven me crazy man...never seen a bike so gorgeous and suave!
What I cannot understand is why is BIMOTA still boasting SOHC, air/oil cooled engines on their bikes...Doesn't that harm sales, considering how expensive the bikes are?

The Bimota Delirio was officially test ridden by Harriet Ridley in this month's OVERDRIVE.

She admits that though it wasn't very girly thing to do, she was literally drooling over the design of the bike when she first saw it. However, after the DB5 actually spilled it's guts out during a test ride, she thought there probably would be no performance in the Delirio.

However, the bike absolutely stunned her with it's ride quality and the snatchy feel at low revs due of the fuel injection as in other Bimotas has been sorted out here. However, even she feels that the bike should get a more cutting-edge tech engine for a 13k UK pounds bike.

Also, I couldn't help but notice how the Japs tried to get into the act and compete with the Italians too.
