1) Innova is very good compared to other vehicles if your family size exceeds 4. Its a huge car and driving it around the city can be a pain - not to forget getting it parked is a bigger pain. But seeing that you are going to run 50 kms daily + a highway trip - go for it.

2) we got it for 9.8 L approx . its the 2.5V version - airline seats in the middle row.

3) Expect an FE of about 10 KMPL in the city going upto 13 KMPL on the highways. A.S.S is pretty decent , havent heard anyone complain of toyota service yet . and about maintainence - well regular servicing as per manual should keep your car healthy. As for the maintaince costs , have no idea - will let u know after our car goes for its 1st service

It will be pretty difficult to find a 2nd hand diesel innova. You can try to find out with banks if they have any seized innovas.
Anyway IMO innova is a pretty good vehicle except that it is HUUUUGE

I think you can take a new G1 version for the price of a used V version and now toyota is giving an option of 7or8 seat configuration in every model.
But in G1 you dont get power windows which can be a pain in such a huge car
