"FORD WILLYS JEEP 1942, vintage piece, short chasis, left hand drive, converted to diesel, new tyres. Excellent condition. Ph- 9886330773"

Check it out (and take me out for a BIG treat if you buy it

Hey gopz,

I called him. Nice gentleman. It's 1942 original WW2. Mint condition. He's purchased it 8 months ago, re registered it, plonked in a reconditioned MMpeugeot engine. Now he has to re-locate.

Unfortunately he's spent too much, so he asks too much. Very expensive. Not my budget. Thanks for the effort.

Cost of rebuilding a JEEP

Hi Sam,

1) Chassis - 5-10K
2) Body 10-20K
3) Engine - 7-40K (B275 - XD3P)
4) Gbox & Tcase - 4-10K
5) Front Diff - 4-8K (Including Axle, brake drums, hubs spindles)
6) Rear Diff - 4-8K
7) Leaf Springs - 1-5K
8)Shockers - 1-4K
9) Paint - 5-10K
10) Electricals - 5-8K
11) Brakes - 3-8K
12) Tyres - 12-40K (including rims/wheel discs)
13) Soft tops - 2-10K
14) Steering - 3-10K ( Manual worm & roller or Recirculating ball)
15) Labour for Assembly - 5-10K

Now do the maths add the total and figure out what the JEEP you are going to buy has or doesnot have.

A good functional JEEP cost Rs 1.5L to Rs 2.5L Depending on the accessories.

This is for both petrol & diesel engines.

Regards,

Arka

Sam, next time you come down to Pune and are in Nana Peth, ask for Arab Jeepwallah. He collects a lot of jeeps and converts them into stupid looking vehicles. Since you plan on doing it up I would recommend picking up something in a bad condition from him but take a mechanic along who knows jeeps well and can inspect the car for you. Let me know if you need driving directions.

Sam, how would you like a Jonga with a Toyota 3L diesel engine, transmission and gearbox with power steering and absolutely immaculate body condition?
