Team-BHP - Good price for a used Forester

Hi
After many months of hunting, I have come across a used Forester in Bangalore which has done 28k and is in very good condition.
I wanted to check what is the reasonable price for this car. I have cheked sources like Carwale and JMD Cars but they dont seem to take some factors like 'non-avilability' or 'rarity' in to account.
Any views on this are highly appreciated.

PS: I am aware of the issues with parts/service etc with the Forester

It would help if you can give us the year of manufacture.

If the car is in great shape then maybe around 6.5L. I don't think you should pay more for that car. It maybe a drivers delight but I'm assuming its no owners pride.

discussed it with a local car dealer (he has already traded about 6 foresters). the prices are high because:

1. trouble free nature of car
2. good demand and low availability (in Panjab)
3. Dynamic Motors - dealers in Chandigarh has most of the stock parts readily available with good service record
4. an eye turner - people have hardly seen a forster on roads :-)

At least in Bangalore, there seems to be big gap between what owners are ready to sell at and what potential buyres are willing to pay.

During my search for a used Corolla I did come in touch with the Regional Manager of GM who told me about Foresters and how good they were. I always held the Forester in high regard due to so many positive reviews on the internet. When I asked him about resale value he said he recently helped a customer buy a second hand Forester for around 6.5L. This may have been slightly higher than what it could have been since the company guy himself was involved.

@Rudra, E_L : The car, though a BIG flop was a really good car (basically a Subaru) which costed close to 15L when new. Since it was a flop I am guessing it would have dropped by around 50-60% its value in 3 years. I think in Chennai the right price would be around 5.5L to 6L for a car in excellent condition.

Also a petrol that would return you south of 6KM/L; with gas prices in KA the most expensive in India, frequent non-availability of ordinary petrol in BLR... :eek: think again!

true the price will be much higher in Bangalore. I have known an instance where a 5 years old forester which had done 93000 km went for 5 lakhs!

I have a 2005 Forester, it had done 8000km when i bought it.

I paid 8.5l for it. Even if someone offers me the same price i will not sell it!

It is known to be super reliable and i know because i previously had an imported 1997 Subaru Legacy which had 275000 on the odo when i sold it and amaizingly was totally free of rattles and squeaks. It was owned by an embassy in Delhi and was very well kept.

When did you buy it? How much have you done now?
