Need help in purchasing a Used Scorpio

Hi Tbhpians, I Need help in purchasing a Used Scorpio in Bangalore, my budget is 4.5L. Which model and year can buy for this price ? And is it worth buying an old model ? (I mean 03 or 04)

Thanks in advance.

The older models had the better engine especially the initial newly released Scorpios. The initial CRDE engine was not very good not sure if it improved, I know two people who had ECU problems with the CRDE engines.

I would not advice for a Pre-Owned Diesel Vehicle with the exception that you are buying from a close friend.

As others have said, please be very sure of the car you are buying if you are going in for it. Buy it from a friend, colleague or someone you know... and someone who takes care of his cars.
I recently bought a 2003 Scorpio from a friend who had maintained the vehicle beautifully. I am very happy with the purchase.

For the budget you have mentioned, you will get a late 03, early 04 model.

For the budget, you should be able to manage a second gen 2004 Scorpio. This one has a slightly better engine than the first gen, and the steering felt a shade better too.
Be warned that a 2004 vehicle would have mostly run between 60-80K if not higher, look hard for aging cues for lower run (ob the odo) vehicles.

Thanks everybody.

This for family as well as for business purpose, As I need a bigger vehicle (than my Zen) to carry my daily purchase. Which vehicle do you think is ideal for that ?

While you're at it, do check out a brand new Versa!
Imagine, a brand new one. No second hand, no dubious past.

I have driven the Innova and I liked it too but its out of my budget at the moment, and I simply hate the Versa, How about Bolero ?

You'd still be buying second hand!
Have you checked out a Versa? Many hated it from the outside, but changed their mind once they got into one!
