The dealership says that the vehicle was manufactured on 19th Feb and presently in transit for the last 6 days.

I understand 19th Feb was holiday in plant and no black Getaway has been spotted in the plant.

So honestly I don't have any clue when I'll get to see the vehicle.

I also wish you would dispense with the stupid tooth in the centre and revert to the older type radiator grille/ fascia which is there in the 2005-2006-2007 and early 2008 models of Scorpio.

NO WAY!
That's their greatest invention.
:D

I took mine to a dentist and got it removed.

Off-topic:

Speaking of the front grille, does anybody (including M&M) know how difficult it is to change the headlight bulb in a Bolero? Talk of technological progress.

Its a 5 minute affair. I got mine done about 3 weeks back due to a fused bulb. And oh yeah it cost me Rs.15 in labour at the ASC.

Are you sure?
You have to remove the headlight doom back-cover through the wheel well. My well-experienced mech seemed to be struggling. That's why.

It happened in front of my eyes. All you need to do is open the bonnet, remove the socket and the rubber from the back of the headlamp. Getting your hand through that hole can be tricky for few.Unscrew the bulb and put a new bulb. Getting the rubber back on can be slightly tricky though. Its as simple as that.

Hai AB,

Congrats on the booking and wish you speedy delivery.

Awaitng your experience with the truck; in a similar situation as yours, wanting a 4x4 which needs to crunch miles, should be a decent off-roader not necessarily hard core, should have A/C + PS and decent cabin space.

Hope somebody would REALLY listen to the customer and bring out a cost-effective solution.

Ani Man!

Congratulations for the Getaway! Good decision. I was very disappointed when I saw THAR and could not digest the form- NO LIFE STYLE VEHICLE THIS IS!!

I backed out on my decision to buy it and have now decided to wait for the w201 instead :)

On Customer Service: Full marks to AML, M&M, if not for that, I would have never bought the second scorpio!

Eagerly waiting for the Getaway!

Thanks Srikanth and Ramki Saar!

The Getaway arrived yesterday afternoon and I went to the Automotives stockyard at Kompally to see the vehicle in flesh. Since the vehicle was locked, I could only see it from outside.
Do I really need the THAR? EDIT: Booked Getaway!-img00093.jpg

Few gripes:
  1. Fuel Tank can't be remotely opened. It has a key lock. This makes the vehicle theft prone.
  2. Interiors are beige!!! What was M&M thinking. Beige interiors in a truck!!!
  3. The load bay door has no lock and has a central handle to open. I'm scared that the load bay door will open up if the vehicle goes over a bump.
  4. The grey bumper also looks odd

BTW contemplating a name for this vehicle. Suggestions welcome :D

Congrats Anirudha! Time to hit the road again :D

throw the stock bumper out and get an offroad bumper from swastik viji!

Thanks Sumanda. Trip already planned in the first week of April courtesy a free GV from M&M :)

I'm not sure whether the off road bumper will be of any use as the extensive rear overhang will anyways spoil the party.

Congrats MC!
I wonder how they would fit the wheelcaps on this.

Congrats on the aquisition MC. The vehicle really looks macho. Awaiting a detailed ownership report with a lot of photos.

Thanks everyone.

I have not taken the delivery of the vehicle as yet. It will be sometime this next week once the transaction on my present vehicle gets completed.

The reason for putting the picture is that this vehicle was bought with almost 0 info. The Mahindra website has only half information about Getaway and there is absolutely no ownership documentation about it in the entire web.

Honestly after seeing the vehicle, I have mixed feelings but then what choice did I have.:Frustrati
