well I don't mind, it will reduce our trip by 33 km, or we can go to both places also.

I am in on any weekend of june provided we don't need to take any day off from office.Can't afford it now.

So I agree with Asdon's plan.

Ok guys, time to get the plan going, final date to confirm is 31st May.will have a mini meet on 5th June to discuss, and this time please bring your halfs too and the intro part is very important, atleast we should know all before starting the journey. Inder is already on search mode to confirm accomodation; We will be stationed in Gokarna but will also visit Murudeshwar in the afternoon(post 3:30pm) so that we can get some wow snaps.
I am also thinking as we will start on friday, how about a dinner in Kamath on NH4?

I don't want to sound too excited and get ahead of myself, but I can hardly contain myself!!

Just one thought, no matter which weekend we go, is it possibly for us to come back sometime late afternoon or early evening (rather than midnight) so that we all can rest a bit on a Sunday before getting back into our Weekday Slogs ??

The Distance is 500km, and we want to start arround 4pm, so that the return becomes comfortable, no matter how fast you drive, there are very less chances that you can cover up before 6.5 hr, I am taking as 8.if you or few more are willing to log off early, please do it, I don't want to spoil your monday, which is always spoiledlol:

Arabian Sea..Rains, beach is no fun during rains.

Bay of bengal..Rain probabilities are lesser

Also I feel a trip to Gokarna requires 2 nights.

So how about Mahabs ? Distance wise it would be a suitable destination for a quick weekend break.

EDIT : I went thru the posts only after i submitted my reply. Looks like everyone is GO-KARNA ! But rains are the main concerns. Monsoons set in by June on the Arabian sea side.

Hi Asdon,

Your plan looks allright , but I am afraid its a very tight one.

I was there on the same stretch 3 weeks before and you take a minimum of 3.5 ~ 4 hours from Gokarna to Jog falls even though its only about 120 KMS. I started at about 1230 Hours from Gokarna and was able to reach Jog only about 1630 hours ( 2 stops of 10 minutes in between ) because of the Ghats. There were a few clouds at that time of the hour on the way. The road from Kumta to Gokarna was dug up at several places and not really motorable at the speeds mentioned by you.

Instead Murudeshwar would be a better bet where you could enjoy the beaches and the fantastic temple veiws. The beach at Gokarna is very steep at places and pretty dangerous.

A 3 day trip would be required to cover the schedule as mentioned by you comfortably and you would enjoy it better , I mean enjoy your drive better !!
