Hi RJ, Mine was a pure case of oversight! The tyre after put down from the jack ought to be tightened again with the full weight of the car helping the way. THIS WAS NOT DONE & I get a SHOLAY scene out of my car:eek:

Below pictures courtesy:: iPhone-assembled in CA, made in China!

That's scary!!! good nothing was around and you were driving at a very modest speed, I don't understand when these Service guys will learn to fix the problem first time, some time the second trip is really costly. If that guys would have done the job correctly you would have reached the office rather than cursing him for the shoddy job and the scary moment!!

Lesson learned:make sure you check the job done by service guys yourself and then only drive away!!!

-Pramod

Now this is pathetic! all this can be expected only from a mahindra A.S.S. you are very lucky as all this occurred at a slow speed. also, good to know that your scorpio is not damaged in any way.

now to think of it, why did you ever tip that guy?!!

@getsurya:

Glad it was not any worse. You should inform Mahindra about this and raise a stink. That dork should definitely get sacked for putting peoples life at risk.

Hi surya
Did you need the on-call service guy to change a flat tyre?

can we have some close up pics of the wheel nuts, stud and the alloy wheel nut seat area? I hope you are using the "Dome nut" as prescribed for stock alloy wheels. Wheel nut Tightening torque is 90Nm in diagonal sequence.

Nice to know the torque values for this ! Was never mentioned in my manuals. I do not have a torque wrench to check this (is this expensive ?), otherwise I will have to work out the distance at which I can stand on the spanner while tightening, for my body weight :thumbs up

@getsurya, a very lucky escape !

not much expensive, usually when you hand tighten it fully it comes close to the 90 Nm mark, but always cross check with a torque wrench.

Pramods,

I was driving slowly(believe it or not- something was cautioning me that "all is not well"!!) on a road which I everyday do a minimum of 70+ kmph speeds! I was indeed lucky that nothing was in the front and rear of my car when all this happened. you should see the looks of passersby when they saw my car as the photo's show :Shockked:

Raj,

You are right, I tipped him thinking that somebody worked in hot sun to replace my flat tyre. was just being good, thats all!

4X4:: I have escalated this with my contacts, I am just proven lucky.

Nitrous, yes-I called the helpline to change the flat tyre as my health is not all in pink for me only to do it(which otherwise I would have done!)

Spike, I use the domenuts only for the alloys. I do not have any close up pics than what I already posted.

mooza, The next thing I purchased at the EOD on the same day was the torque wrench from TAPARIA!

This is heights of M.A.S.S servicing. Well, on brighter side you are lucky that the wheel didn't go and hit any other motorist or pedestrian and also that your beast got out without any further damage. Have you raised any complaint against the service guys?

The brakes on our Scorpio VLX failed completely 2 days ago :Shockked:, fortunately the car was at slow speed and my cousin could steer it to stop it without much damage. The car was taken to a Mahindra authorised workshop and now they have returned the car with ABS disconnected as they were unable to fix it, we are now waiting for Mahindra engineers to come and check the issue.

The ABS light comes on intermittently at times since purchase, This issue was reported since purchase but Mahindra workshops do not have any solution for this.

More so, the clutch has failed twice till date. The clutch master cylinder assembly has been changed twice under warranty. The even worse part is the Mahindra dealer in gurgaon is even more worse than most Tata Fiat dealers, we have to take the car to delhi even for small niggling issues.

Some other additional features offered in VLX like cruise control and TPMS have also given trouble in past. The Scorpio is still under warranty.

Thank God that the vehicle was at a slow speed! This is very dangerous, to the people in the vehicle and others on road!

There was a thread about M&M sending out a circular to their A.S.S to carry out some work with the brake lining; looks like there is an design issue with the brakes on Scorpio!

thats a very scary incident getsurya, glad that you were safe and the beast didnt incur any damages. If this would have been the right side tyre, it would have skidded on the concrete road causing more damage.

Really shocking of the work done by "hamesha Scorpio" guy.

Horrible to hear this @Anshuman, Thank God you people are safe.

This is even pathetic to hear; I'm sure with a little money more, you could've gone for Toyota, but still you'd faith with good old Indian manufacturers & this is not the way they treat us; I mean, no solution is not the solution to be provided.

Atleast one good factor is that its still under warranty, so no shelling out money. But revals the poor quality of manufacturing as well as QC.

You're right. See the following post discussed on this thread.

You should write/call to head-office and ask for clarifications, request them to send some qualified engineer and get the vehicle thoroughly inspected as these repeated failures are life-threatening.

Also how would you tackle this once your warranty is over ?
looks like a lot of money waste can happen this way.
