Hi,

Anyone noticed the amount of water that get splashed on to the windscreen when the Scorpio goes through a puddle of water?

Its really scary when this happens especially on highways.

how can this be avoided?

I have the new scorpio with the large front fendor which is supposed to reduce this issue.

Help... is this a common issue with all scorpio's or is it just me?

Yes the problem still exists in new Scorpio but to a much lesser extend.
Old Scorpio was downright scary in rain.

One solution is to drive with wiper set to high instead of low. Thats what I do.

Problem with Safaris too - not with puddles but when there is an accumulation of water on roads the splash comes directly onto your windscreen, blinding you for a moment or two.

Hi, I have a doubt here. I am guessing that the water comes from the front which is why the newer Scorpio has that revised design. But does the water come from any other direction too, the problem not having been solved as yet by the company? Does water come through the centre front direction of the car(where the extra extensions are not there)?

For the past one month, i feel that my scorpio's engine is overheating and i dont know the reason. So please share your knowledge about this and let me know what could have went wrong. im attaching a picture of the heat gauge.



The needle goes upto the red mark that i've made, is this normal?

No it is not normal. It should stay less than the half mark. Check for coolant level. Is it getting reduced than the normal? If so there could be a radiator leakage.

Is there a water pump malfunction?

i checked the coolant level, the radiator is full and it is up to half level in the coolant reservoir tank too.

@gd1418: Sir, please take a snap of your Scorpio's heat gauge(after your daily routine run) and post it as soon as possible.please:

Check radiator condition wrt dirt.
Also, there could be a block in the radiator.
Your car has run quite a bit. So, you might need a pucca radiator service.

Here is the snap of the temp gauge of my scorpio after a run of 100Kms with full AC and a passenger load of 6. It was taken from a mobile as the regular camera that travels in the car always, decided to ditch me at that instant. The batteries went kaput..:)




How much have you clocked on your Scorpio's odo?? I've clocked 72K Kms till now.

Apart from what has already been suggested:

AC condenser fins dirty.

Thermostatic valve in coolant circuit malfunctioning, or partially choked.

my ride has clocked 87,311 kms till date.

:OTalso i have this another issue, a tut tututrr tut turr sound from the front wheels while turning fully to right or left (while in very slow speed, eg: in the case of a U turn) and a CLUNK sound(coming from near the clutch pedal) when i release the clutch after 1st and 2 nd gear. Any ideas why??please:

:OT too: By any chance do you have oversized tyres? If yes, then this sound is normal when turning lock-to-lock as it is bound to touch the stabilising rod resulting in that sound. I recently changed my Scorp's tyres from stock Bridgestone Dueler H/T to Bridgestone Dueler A/T - 31x10.50 R15LT 6PR and now am experiencing this sound when executing a turn lock-to-lock.

I've had this clunk sound from the clutch pedal for long and have now got used to it. Everytime I bring up this issue during servicing, the mechanic applies some oil/grease and says - 'sookha chal raha tha, greasing kar diya'. And I live with it..:D It is the sound from the pedal spring.

im running stock bridgestone dueler h/t 235/75/15 tyres, but my alloy wheels are offset, so i guess that clears the doubt regarding sound while turning.


And my mechanic does the same regarding the clutch sound too, hehehe:D, so that too is cleared.

the only thing pending is the engine heating. i guess i've got to visit the a.s.s by next week.

My suggestion, though I don't approve off and am skeptical, is that the ASCs use something called radiator flush that is supposed to remove scale formation and clear clogged water lines. Now isn't that what the coolant was supposed to do?

You may like to give this a try or undertake what 'Big man' Nitrous advised.
