I shall take some pictures and post. |
The same happened to my car- cat had jumped and messed up the bonnet with scratches
There is no way u can remove all of them, what is the best way is to have a DA and run Meguiars 105 and then apply sealant to seal the paint. Additionally if you do a run of a finishing polish like M205, it will surely hide 99% of the marks
I do not know of the results with hand- try out and see. Now on my bonnet, 99% people cannot see them, i can see only at an angle. Problem is availability of the material i mentioned locally.
I had my car detailed by UCD this weekend last. They did an awesome job of it and I put down the details in my post in the Directory Thread.
There is a whole world of information out there on how to maintain one's car best. It can look almost as good as new with some knowledge, care and a little effort. My thanks to UCD for the first two + for putting in the effort :D
Won't post the whole thing again, but here's the link:

Now my task is to maintain it like this with the knowledge I've gained.
Bhpians,
Just got back from my banned period. I hand detailed my sons car in the USA (Chicago) with products taken from India (though imported from all over the world). It was not possible to take machines from India or buy them there as they would be of no use bringing them back, due to their 110 volts rating. The photograph shows the results I achieved (from my phone camera). The results were really put to the test as we both drove 1125 miles (over 2000 kms), Chicago to Niagara and back. The car remained clean with only bugs over the hood, windshield, grill and bumper. All we did was put it through a brush car wash (no swirls reported) and it was as pristine as ever. The wash took just 2 minutes. His report is he only has to wash his car once in 2 weeks, which is really great. Being a Black Accord model 2011 I think that is really great. By the way it just took 6 hrs of elbow grease to get it in this shape.
Experts,
Which is the best color pad for applying Collinite using a DA ?
Hi All,
Any clue about Zaino Car products, how good are they? Should I stick to ArmorAll, Turtle and STP or is Zaino comparable?

You should use a finishing pad, which generally is BLACK

If you are talking about Collinite 845 - your muscle power coupled with a good quality MF towel gives amazing result. DA is overkill to use with the 845 and beats the sheer convenience of using the 845.

Was guessing that. Thanks for the confirmation

You are right it would be overkill, but just that now i have the DA, thought of finishing it faster.
I was thinking of vacumming the vents using the crevice tool. Is that a good Idea, or anyone can suggest something better.
Also, I need to remove a sticker from my numberplate which was put by a service center without my consent. Any ideas which does not involve scratching it out?
ONR tested on a very dirty car (read my car)
Earlier got the ONR from Moshin (Team UD) but hadn't had the chance to try it out. The itch finally got over today (not really, hungry for more detailing now).
When i say dirty car, i mean the lower part of the car (half doors, front bumper) was splashed with mud, not washed for around 3+ weeks. Black dirt on front bumper (looks like someone lit a stove under the bumper)
Preped the gear
> Two 3M MF
> 2 buckets (75% filled with water)
> ONR (around 10ML, less maybe)
> Brush for wheels cleaning.
Did one panel at a time starting with roof & boy i am impressed. The final result has really blown me away. Was scared to clean door bottoms which had LOTS of hard/bad dirt which the MF easily picked up - just amazing.
The black smoke like dirt on the bumper was another scary thing to clean. Well, ONR kicked it with ease, like a piece of cake or something...man it was twice as amazing this time - am sold out on ONR.
Will share the AFTER pics soon. No before pics sorry.
Thanks to Tbhp for getting all maniacs together & to Team UD for grass root level implementation.

1. Exactly, even a drizzle cause these car parts to get dirty.
2. Thats fantastic. For me it takes around 90mins. to get the car clean after a drive in these conditions --> semi-wet city roads. Would love to know more about your results in detail.
3. Please share the pics.
Thanks for sharing.
Great to see you back here ThinkBig! :D
@rk sans - You can use blue/black/red or gold pads (Lake country). Megs black is also finishing pad! Not sure about 3M though!
@torquecurve - Zaino products are like a millennium ahead of stuff like ArmorAll, STP and TW!! You can never go wrong with them!
armorall tire protectant is economical (it may not last a longtime, but its cheap enough to use frequently on a daily driver)
@quadra - You might also notice that washing the mf after using it with ONR is much easier and mf sheds dirt readily! :D
Can anyone please help me to get ONR at hyderabad? Any contact will be very helpful.
The ebay seller didn't reply to my email and so did automall.
