Gurus, Need help and advice from you all.
Though I am not new to polishing, I am novice in this. I used to wash my old Santro with Amway/Waxpol car shampoo with old cloths, then dry with old white vests. After that used to apply 3M wax with cotton waste and leave for 2-3 hours and then rub with soft old white vests in circular motions. Also applied 3Ms dash board polish to dash and outside black plastic parts. Then dress tyres with 3M tyre polish.
Recently I bought new Ford Figo non-metallic Red and need to maintain exteriors & interiors top class.
Now my first question is What are the good products need to buy for polishing & detailing for exteriors(like wax or silicone, plastic polish, tyre polish, glass cleaner) what are the other products to buy (like boosters to polish) to keep the polish to last for a month or two. Please name any 2-3 brands which are good and where to buy in Bangalore?
The second question is what are the things to have for wash, clean, polish the car. I understood from reading few posts that Jopasu required for cleaning dust and micro fiber towel to wipe after the wash. Other than these what else to buy?
After getting these , if required, I will ask your advice on procedure to apply.
Daily Dusting - Jopasu
Daily spot cleaning (Bird Droppings/mild dust) - Meguiar's Quick Detailer + MF Towel
Weekly Cleaning - Optimum No Rinse
Monthly Shampoo - Sonax or Meguiar's
Monthly Vacuum - Vacuum Cleaner
Frequent Glass Cleaner - Sonax Glass Cleaning Spray
Monthly Glass Cleaning - Wurth Aerosol Glass Foam
Tyre Dressing - Not Aware as is done by 3M once every 3 months
Did I miss anything?

Wow! I thought single stage paints had been replaced by bc/cc paint systems , at least here!!
I've never worked on any ss paint system!! |
Oops, a correction. The tank in the picture was clearcoated. The fairing was SS though.
SS paints are far far easier to work with than clear coated ones.
If anyone is interested in the results of application of Rain-X on windshield, here is the pic. Though the applied surface is not of an automobile, but I've seen the difference myself and it works wonders. The left side windshield is treated with Rain-X while the right side isn't. On the treated side, the water droplets simply fly away with the wind (wipers are a strict NO NO) but on the non treated side, wipers, even at full speed, fail to do their basic job. :Frustrati
Next time, will try to get a pic while Rain-X is doing its job
Sorry for the low quality. Next time, :thumbs up
I got only one expert answer. Require few more suggestions and advice on the below please. I want to Shine my car this weekend.

Received this yesterday, yet to try it, waiting for some clear skies. I need to clear a doubt regarding its application, should i apply this product over the Collinite 845 or before it.
Also i need to purchase a Megs QD and would be glad if someone can help me in procuring a bottle. Will surely pay for the product & courier charges, if needed in advance.

Two questions mate - Have you used the Jopasu duster and how does it compare to the California duster since Jopasu costs 1/4th of California duster? Secondly, what's a DA?

I am to take delivery of my new vehicle in two days. Can you please suggest if a detailing is required at the very beginning or shall I wait for the winds to blow the monsoon clouds away?
I have already bought the Jopasu duster, mini duster, wash mitt, few MF cloths, collinite 845, Mother's clay. Will get the other stuffs soon.

Captain, congrats on your new car purchase, Honda City.:thumbs up
I did suggest when you get the car delivery, wash it with car shampoo like Amway Car shampoo and wax it with 845. That should provide it with wax protection and later when the rain subsides in October, do a complete detailing. Since the paint is new, you can skip claying, but still if you ought for perfection, do clay the surface, since we all know how the cars are kept in stockyards.
