Flywheel

Tell me what you think about flywheel..

Weather it is a part of Engine or Transmission???

I say that flywheel is physically present in the engine (seperate from transmission system) but the design of flywheel or its purpose is for Transmission system !

Flywheel is the part of engine where engine transfers its output from pistons.
See www.howsuffworks.com and you can see nice animation of everything

hey mate the flywheel is definitely a part of the engine..its main function is to store energy developed during the power stroke and distribute it evenly for continuous and smooth power delivery during the other strokes when power is not developed (suction...compression....exhaust) it also houses the ring gear on its circumference which engages with the starter motor for starting the engine.
