Hello Folks,
I am new to this forum folks. I own a Accent CRDi. Its 3 months old. I use Hi-Speed Diesel for my CRDi's consumption. Of late I am seeing lot more smoke in my exhaust compared to what it was earlier. I don't rev my engine more than 3k on the tacho.
Any special maintenance suggested from other owners!! Do you think using Injector cleaning solvents would help?
I use Mobil 5W-50 as my engine oil. I also used NULON during run-in period.
Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Which is the best Premium Diesel of the lot
1. Hi-Speed Diesel
2. XTRA Mile Diesel
3. HP TurboJet Diesel
Has anyone seen variations in FE?
Regards
Sateesh
Hi Sateesh
I own a CRDI myself and have had this problem for the last two years...
After an entire battery of tests and various interventions by the dealer this problem still has not gone away - keeps surfacing within a couple of days ..
This happens when ever the MASTER AIR FLOW SENSOR is dirty/clogged. despite even trying a K&N filter we found enough muck in the turbo and intake systems to paint a decent sized mural with !! - am sure this has definitely dented the life of the engine.
I have as recently as yesterday reverted back to a stock filter and am sending the car to get the ENTIRE intake plumbing stipped and cleaned. dange is the sensor itself may be irrepairable dirty and may need ot be replaced - in which case will set you back by bout 7.5k. Suggest you go for the extended warranty which covers these things - I did!
Now time to CONFRONT Hyundai with this - the dealers are clearly clueless and unhelful!
Sujit
ANYONE who can shed more light on this - surely will help
Update
I gave the car to Leela Krishnan's garage. He stripped the enire intake system, cleaned the entire thingy and put the whole package back. Tested the whole thing on a dyno, tweaked the Mass air flow sensor - and the smoke seems gone!
Lets now see if it ever recurs - in which case replaing the sensor is the only option.

Kb, what do u expect from a specialist??
Leela is that rare enthusiast who also knows his work.
I think he also owns an Crdi Accent. That should help.
Hello Sujit,
I am not sure neither are the Hyundai ASS folks. The folks at the ASS are confident they can fix it. Let me see. I am also not lucky enough to have Leela Krishnan service my car.
And I know what an enthusiast he is.
Lucky you..
..and keep us posted ..

Hello Folks,
Apparently the Hyundai ASS folks cleaned the EGR valve(Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and calibrated the sensors.
It seems to be clean now. I need to keep an eye to identify recurrence of the same. If it does I am planning to confront Hyundai on this.
Keeping my fingers crossed till then

Hello Sujit,
The smoke is back after clocking 200 kms on the ODO. I am confronting the Hyundai ASS and making a lot of noise. Let us see on how it goes. I am getting frustated as I see a lot of other CRDi's on the road without this issue.
Drifter have you had this issue before...

May be naive thought, but can be considered. Why don't you try using ordinary deisel. Reason is, there was a big thread in tbhp on Innova diesel - black smoke, the owners found it, the premium deisel is main (or important) culprit.

had the black smoke been common in accent crdi, we would have known about it by now.
in fact my scorpio crde had the same problem and it was attributed to faulty oil separator, it has been replaced during service and now its gone. btw, i am also using hsd.however, it hasnt done more than 100kms since the service.. may be i need to keep an eye on smoke....
if i am right, steeroid's dicor had the same problem and was subsequently recified by rebanding the EGR.
so insist the service centre to rectify the problem permanently.
Hello Sujit and other Team-BHP folks,
The EGR valve was cleaned and the problem has gone away. The biggest change has come from the change of Diesel- From BP to IOC.
The Hyundai ASS looked at their records and found a couple of more folks who had the same problem and the problem vanished when they were asked to switch from Hi-Speed Diesel to XTRA Mile Diesel.
I now can see my CRDI literally flying to smoking out Esteems..lol:
I have done 200 kms since the fuel change and I don't see any smoke yet..:Cheering:
Finally a happy customer of Hyundai ASS( They showed the difference in Hi-Speed Diesel and IOC's combustion exhausts...)
Cheers

Nice to hear,bro.
I don't understand why HSD works differently. Once, i used a full tank of HSD and got an average of 6.7kpl. The worst ever.
