Can you change the time interval set for intermittent wipers?

If yes, how?
I am unable to find any button that would help me do it.

Is this available in all cars?

Thanks.

Re: Can you change the time interval set for intermittent wipers?

You have different levels within the intermittent mode, which actually increases or decreases the time.

There is nothing that you can set yourself.

Well, the Safari has different speeds that can be set & so does the BMW. Gotta check my Fiesta, cannot remember off-hand if it does

Most cars do not let you change the interval. My previous car - Accent had a nifty rotary control on the wiper stalk which allowed you to change the wipe rate by about a factor of two.

My car (and I guess the most cars) has the following controls:

Off
INT
LO
HI

And Off is off,
INT is say - at an interval of 10 seconds,
and LO and HI is also at some factory settings, say 15 and 4 seconds.

My question is can I change the INT settings from 10 seconds to say 20 seconds. If yes, how?

I hope its not a stupid question, because I can always use LO or HI in that case.

What I think is that INT time of my car's wipers is too long. And I wish I could change it to something that's a little more frequent than it currently is, and also not like HI (because HI is too fast).

I have a Getz CRDi.
Well, I am not sure if I can do it, because I don't see any rotary control around the wiper control area.

If you don't see a rotary control, then the feature is not available on the Getz. Check the Owners Manual/Handbook to make doubly sure

Re: Can you change the time interval set for intermittent wipers?

some cars has the feature:

Quote:
CONDOR:

Windshield wipers : Programmable intermittent speed !
Pleasantly surprised with this.
• Switch on intermittend speed wiping. Let it wipe once, then Switch off.
• Wait n seconds (between 1 & 25 seconds). Switch it on again. The number of seconds you wait, is the speed/delay of the intermittent wipe action !

Ref page #14 of the owners manual
this is available on a similar thread:

Hyundai Getz Prime (Petrol) has this feature with 4 adjustable intermittent speeds:

I found a diagram of Kia wiper controls online.

I guess the '+' and '-' in this diagram show the controls from where the INT speed can be controlled.

Well, my car does not have it.
Is there any other place where I should be checking for this?

I got it. Thanks!

I am going to test it on my Getz. I think it should work.

Thanks planet_rocker!

Re: Can you change the time interval set for intermittent wipers?

Indigo Dicor lx has the same conterol which I find very useful in mild rain because even the int setting that I have on my alto lxi is too fast . Note Indigo dicor lx has this and not the ls or vs variants which are lower spec.

I agree Anky, changing the INT wiper speed is a very good feature and useful during rains.
Well, I hate rains its so harsh on the cars specially if you're in India. Hate those pot holes on the roads. I am sure SUV owner's have a different opinion.

Thanks all for the inputs.

Actually, my Getz does not have the speed band as in the diagram (if you're referring to that).

But I think the solution that planet_rocker mentioned will work in this case.

Re: Can you change the time interval set for intermittent wipers?

Suman da (ooops!) - but what is neat, is the Ikon adjustment thingy as was mentioned by Condor. Getz Prime has the option as OE (pre-set under Intermittent).

Slightly OT: i had Automatic wipers (without rain sensors on the Windshield / behind the IRM) in the Padmini. Later i Disabled the option by covering a naked wiper wire in the engine bay.

Pre-set wiper speed adjustment band (under Intermittent) in a Hyundai Getz Prime CRDi:

My 2005 Scorpio manual says the wiper speed can be controlled in the intermittent mode. It doesnt work.. But then it also told you how to use the cruise control! (which didnt appear until the VLX was launced).
I dont know if the new Scorpios have a working wiper speed adjust.

Re: Can you change the time interval set for intermittent wipers?

This is the wiper control in my Fiesta.

The 1,2,3,4 etc are the different speeds at which the intermittent speed can be set at.
