Power Steering Recall for '11 Lineas?

Hi,

I received a call from Prerana Motors Banagalore about a Power Steering upgrade for Linea to be done FOC for my March 2011 MJD.

Any body else aware of what is this really?

It is reported that FIAT India is voluntarily replacing a flexible tubing pertaining to power steering in some 2011-manufactured FIAT Puntos/Lineas.

This is a rare confidence inspiring move by FIAT. Lot of more such care for customer moves are needed to rebuild the lost confidence on FIAT. They always had the best of the products but terrible Sales and After sales experience.

It seems FIAT is moving in the right direction AFA service is concerned. Their products were impressive already, hope their service also turns impressive too

Re: Power Steering Recall for '11 Lineas?

Whats the reason for this recall? Have any Fiat owners reported any fault in the power steering unit or is it voluntary from Fiat to replace the suspected part?

So now Fiat joins the bandwagon.

FIAT has joined the bandwagon long back for replacement of clutch slave cylinder [from plastic to metallic] and AC condenser/fan kit for petrol Lineas [from smaller to bigger capacity]. My Linea is the recipient of both the recalls.

This is very strange, or have i got used to the perfect steering in my Linea.!

Strange because, Fiats probably have done their first ever Re-call..

I won't say that this is the first recall. The initials Palio MJDs had problems with the clutch and Fiat acknowledged and changed those. Also, the initials lineas had parts changed as has been mentioned in this thread somewhere. The good thing is they're taking these confidence inspiring measures.

Re: Power Steering Recall for '11 Lineas?

Yes..i also own a punto emotion brought on May 6th 2011 (manufactured March 2011) from Concorde Motors.

I got to know from the service personnel that they have observed same steering hose failure in a particular range of chassis numbers (6 failed cases out of 600). So fiat decided to replace this hose pipe for all the 600 puntos. I ws informed that in such a failure the steering fulid leaks out and the steering gets very hard.

I hope this is the only reason..I was informed that it takes half a day to replace this hose...I did not notice any difference after replacement.
