As far as i know, this is not a feature that only XUV has. Projectors are meant to be like this, thats what they are built for. The idea is to illuminate the driver side just enough for the low beam and have a better throw at the co-passenger side as thats where you would have pavement,tress etc. Since India has right hand drive cars, hence the rightside has less throw than the left side. So this is not a special feature of XUV.

As for the HID, i guess you can add on to XUV but you might have to use ballast .

Yes, aka xenon lamps, the same link I gave you has got some information for HIDs. It produces more illumination with less power than the regular halogen lamps consume. Works on gas-discharge principle.

Thank you for comments on that one Nitin, I need to check with someone who's using it so I can get them fixed. Regarding the Projectors, I never said its XUV feature, I was always been fascinated by them when I see Lauras on the road or those focused white lights on vehicles in the US. I got the xenon lamps for my Palio, but couldn't get the right projectors done for it and it was a disaster when I drive my car with HIDs and no Projectors on them, I would have died 100s of times if curse of oncoming vehicles come true. That is one reason, why I'm over excited about this feature on new ride :)

Yeah, its like a whirring noise & it does come in while accelerating at a low rpm, especially in higher gears. Its fairly audible & somehow doesn't feel alright, cause the engine's pretty smooth when you accelerate gently. don't know, whether this is kind of sound is normal? feels like the engine's straining.........

Had observed this on a test drive car and reported on another thread few months back. But this sound does not exist on my car yet. I feel this is from dual mass flywheel.

I definitely have the same sound coming from my Aug Manufactured W8. It was barely a week old and just about 1K on the ODO that i noticed this sound. Specifically, this happens between 1700 - 2000 RPM transition of the vehicle in gears 2- 5 mostly.

Also, noticed this to happen more prominently once the engine is warmed up. I was on the highway at speeds close to 100 @ 6th, would have to slow down for a speed breaker - come down to 20 @ 2nd and start accelerating to really "feel" this noise - not particularly hard pedal-to-metal acceleration just normal tap on the accelerator to shift up back to cruising speed produces this feel.

Its as-if a huge vibration just passes thru the car , causing a few flimsy dashboard plastics to vibrate. Took it to the workshop to check it out to make sure its not big - the RM did agree that there was some vibration issues in general and took it to fix up. When I got the vehicle back, the general smal squeaks and vibrations were gone - but once the engine warms up - the same virbatory noise thing is present, albeit a little more toned down.

Again , on a positive note, you could just sort of consider it as a growl from the engine when the turbo kicks in :D

Has anyone here been successful entering the latitude/longitude of their destination in the navigator? If yes, please share the format in which you are entering this information. I am breaking my head over this. The device is just ignoring the latitude/longitude information I enter in degrees.

I use them regularly. Try Lat=19.719929 and Lon=73.4709513. Would take you to a small village called as Vihigaon which has a beautiful waterfall.

For getting the Latitude and Longitude for a location, open it in google maps, right click on the place and click on "What's here?". The box in front of google maps would be populated with the coordinates.

One suggested by SDP is also one of the best ways to find the lat/long. However, if you have just the coordinates in degrees, MMI doesnt take it.
I faced that question earlier, I use MMI for quite sometime, not on XUV though.
You can use some online portal to calculate the lat/long in decimal format from the degree format. search for them and you will get lots of them, one like below.

Thanks, SDP and Ketan. I was entering the coordinates in decimals but was entering latitude first followed by longitude. The old habit of reading the latitude first and then longitude has stayed with me right from school days and today I discovered that you needed to key in Longitude first followed by Latitude for the system to work

My XUV is just about two weeks old, and I am already getting a taste of things to come with Mahindra. Sterling Motors' workshop in Gurgaon has been extremely unprofessional and I am having to spend entire days away from work running after them to get niggles fixed on this brand new vehicle.
Any suggestions for alternatives to fix XUV niggles under warranty in/around Gurgaon?

What niggles are you facing?

If you can trust the service-center with your vehicle, ask them to pick up the vehicle in the morning (from your work-place, after you have reached there) and drop it (to your work-place) in the evening. As a default purple-club member, you are entitled to free pick-up and drop-off.

I tend to accumulate multiple minor things to be fixed/adjusted for a month and then visit the service-center over a Saturday to get all of them sorted in one shot. Unless you have real show-stopper kind of issues, its not worth a visit to the service-center.

Had decided to follow a similar strategy. Sterling Gurgaon workshop promised to have vehicle picked up by 9am, as it needed a full days work (several niggles). No one showed up. After multiple follow-ups back and forth, and several lies and half-truths (from their end) and shouting (from my end), the vehicle finally got picked up at 11:30am. Am afraid they won't be done with it before end of the day now. They are unwilling to promise any time by which it will be done.
Had an even worse experience the previous time I handed over the vehicle to them. Their driver even mercilessly scraped my one-day-old vehicle against stationary boxes at their workshop :Shockked:
I desperately need an alternative!
