And the kit comprises of 4 new shock absorbers and springs for a linea.
For the punto they have some additional part for the front bumper.

Akshay, do you have any idea about the costof 4 shock absorbers?

The reason why I'm asking you is that our GP has ~52 k on the odo and might be needing shock absorber replacement. Plus the fact that the Fiat is giving 35k warranty sounds drool worthy.

Anyway, the ultimate decision will be made by dad. We'll go for GC upgrade provided he gets satisfied pushing the 2012 GP to the limits on tight corners during the test drive we've planned this Sunday afternoon(like the way he does our 2009 GP). Period

i just checked for linea and he gave a ballpark figure for front shocker to be around 2.8K,which cant be true imho as the kit costs 11K with 4 shockers and springs

IIRC, The front shock absorber costs approx 1300 Rs. i had got one changed 2 months back.

The old linea 2011 T Jet with 170 mm GC

The new Linea 2012 with 185 mm GC (imagine the linea with GC upgrade kit).

Rush, I'm more than satisfied with the GC my linea has. And you'll see me smiling at the next turn, doing 20 kmph more than the city/verna/vento (that was) next to me .Wait, Make it 40 for the verna :D

The higher GC 2012 Punto and Linea look awkward. I believe these two cars a work of art- CLASSY and TIMELESS. These cars will be a looker even if you look at it after 10 years! The looks will be ruined if GC is increased.

Its beauty over brains or vice versa. Owners decide.

Nice one sidindica...Cannot make out the difference with a quick glance.
Looks like they both are parked one behind the other.
Were you able to take one single picture of both the cars?

I had contacted Fiat Customer Care number with this inquiry and was advised to contact the respective service centers for further details. So, I called up Concorde motors Cochin, Marina Motors Trichur & Kulathunkal motors Trivandrum. None of the executives had a clue about the change except the guy from marina motors. He replied that they got this information 2 weeks back, but they doesn't have stock of the new suspensions. He doesn't know how much they cost or by how much mm the GC will be raised. He said it may take another 2 months to be implemented. He also promised that he will let me know the details after confirming. Has to wait and see.
On a personal note, I may not go for this update. I have changed my driving style according to the car's GC. The engine guard scraping is rare now a days. My car has clocked 43,200km on the odo. I believe a suspension change is imminent. At that time, I may think of the new suspension settings. But Ill wait for the comments from others who has changed the suspension.:)

Note from the Team-BHP Support : Please avoid typing with excessive dots.........like................this. Thanks

This secret came out only when FIAT announced the UPGRADE kit...LOL... can't satisfy indian janta fully, can they ?

also there is change near right & left of front bumpers which affects the FRONT AIR-DAM...so its a nice move not to affect the balance of the car...

The GC of the Linea is a matter of getting used to. Initially you tend to scrape the guard more often but now it is a rarity. I agree with general sentiment here get the upgrade if car is over 50k kms since suspensions are usually at the end of life. Now thinking this move by Fiat is like duping old customer then I disagree to hilt. I mean don't people look at GC before buying a car. If you are not happy with GC don't buy the car. Why should they give it for free ?

Any chances of the older models getting auto wipers?
FIAT India hasn't decided said as per one of their posts on FB.
The knob on the dashboard is for the same feature, right?

any details on what are they adding for the cost. No one have mentioned what they are adding. Pictures of work would have been useful. This is how thread become useless in tbhp.

Now to the point, 170mm is sufficient even in Rajasthan. So it would be sufficient anywhere under normal conditions. Unless you try offroading in a sedan. Which I do often and many here won't. :)

Though I managed to scrap engine guard 5-10 times during my trip to Goa via Anmod during rainy season, I'm not going for this upgrade.

I feel its more of the engine guard which is a bit low hence scraps most of the time. 170mm is enough, no?

From GTO's GP review

• Ground clearance stats read as 173mm & 171mm for the petrol & diesel variants respectively.
So they will be increasing GC to 185mm for both GP and Linea?

Price looks all right and is identical to other cars' parts. But what i don't understand is that, why didn't they fit it on cars from factory itself, considering the fact that every manufacturer in India with their 'specially made for India tag" tweaks suspension for their cars. These are critical parts and not some accessories that user installs later.

PS: what are they doing with the replaced parts.
