Working with carbon fibre!

Was just looking at the possibilities of working with carbon fibre for various applications,

Got some info from this website : http://www.mci.i12.com/index.htm

Where he built all the body components in CF for his GSXR1100K

Any idea if the fiber is available?

Hey Edmund,

check out this thread - Pics: Carbon Fibre Seat - How it was made.

It was my first time working with CF, or any composite for that matter, so attention to the visual quality of the peice was last on the list of concerns, since it had to be very structurally sound.

Within a month or two me and a some freinds will have a carbonfibre/chromoly recumbent bicycle made...!

Very nice reviews. But kevlar is aprrox cost 8 times of cf panels. A cf works out like a lakh for a hood. so kevlar will be 8 lakhs for a hood .hahahahaha.

Hey Edmund,

Well i have no clue about the availability of the cloth in Malaysia/Thailand etc ... but one thing you can do is try ebay > found a lot of resuts (Ebay USA) "Carbon Fibre Cloth" link to search.

I was talking to a yatch builder here a few weeks ago and he was telling me that at the moment its becoming rather difficult to find CF as the military is just buying all of it!

goodluck,
