FE drastically dropped in my Baleno...please help!!

Hi guys,

The FE in my Baleno seems to have dropped drastically. Until the second service (4800K Kms), it was consistently giving 12 Kmpl with AC in the city. But post second service and a K&N stock replacement filter install, I seem to be getting pathetic mileage of ~8 Kmpl

I plan to take her to the service station sometime soon, but need your opinions as to why this could be happening or rather any probable problem areas. Could it be the K&N filter at fault? I don't see how since it is a stock replcaement one....has anyone heard of FE problems with K&N? Or maybe there was something done during maintainance which had an impact.

Any suggestions guys?

I am a little confused here.
1. Was there an air filter change during the 2nd service ? Don't think it is required that soon - atleast it was not done for my car.
2. When you say "K&N stock replacement filter" what do you mean ? Is the stock air filter on the Baleno a K&N ?

try putting ur OE filter and then check the FE again ...i dont think the k&n has got anything to do with it ...take it back to the service station

Let me clarify. I removed the OE air filter and put in a K&N stock replacement just after the second service.

Maybe ur driving stlye might have changed quite a bit owing to the roar (even in a stock replacement filter).. Listening to that sound certainly is addictive .. Thats one reason i can think off ..

I think u need to get the car serviced and try out ur FE figures again ..

I think you need to reset your ECU as you changed the air filter.

1. Reset your ECM, for what its worth.

If that doesn't help

2. Put your stock filter back on and see if it makes a difference (reset ECM again after putting it back on)

If that still doesnt help, or even at the begining you can...

3. Get your MAF sensor checked.

I dunno what bangy driving is like, but there's no way one gets that in Bombay. All i can get is abt 9.

Hi,

If the car feels normal to drive,MAP sensor usually is not the issue. Chk the 02 sensor.

Karthik.

No way I can get 12 Kmpl with AC in B'lore. The figures I have listed below are for Mysore.....I'm in Mysore on all weekends and hence my car's there. In B'lore I use a two-wheeler, an Enfield Thunderbird.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Appreciate your help with this
I'll try out the options and let you know what happens.
